Why would we have to count the number?

To understand this you need to first understand Gematria ( [link to en.wikipedia.org] )

Also helps to understand the Significance of numbers in Judaism ( [link to en.wikipedia.org] ).

In ancient greek, they did not have numbers (like the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 digits that are common use in todays western languages) they attributed a value to their letters, in a similar fashion that the romans used roman numerals eg. VII = 7

Greek numerals are a system of representing numbers using letters of the Greek alphabet. Rather than me typing out a lesson here, check out the basics at this page on Classical Greek Numbers: [link to gwydir.demon.co.uk]

So, with that said, we all know (I hope) that the New Testament was not written by a single author, nor was it meant to be a single book that was written in english.

The New Testament we have today has been transliterated by scholars from ancient greek scrolls. Sometimes those scrolls were not originals themselves and now that we are finding older scrolls that can be scientifically verified as pre-dating the scrolls we already know about, we can perceive that the older scroll would be more likely to be correct than the one that was copied at a later date.

An event like this is how the number in todays bible reads as 666 but the ancient greek scroll clearly reads 616.

My point is that no word in the greek scrolls for the book of revelations are equal to the value of 666.

There is however, one word in the entire book of revelation that is equal to the sum 616 and there are no others!

That word is is the key to this 2000 year old riddle!

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is "six hundred and sixteen".

Further than that this word directly relates to the biblical "beast from the sea"

I believe GOD wants you to seek that word, find it, understand it. Help others to do the same. Your eternal soul depends on this one action.
