Yes there are many like you, but very few are willing to be themselves even though they are outcasts

usually intelligent people take drugs to kill thier own emotions and thoughts so that they can fit in better, they copy what the less intelligent people do and they give in to thier fears rather than be themselves

its not rare to find people who are intelligent but its very hard to find people who are intelligent and are willing to be themselves, very, very hard

It's all about to what degree you can just say "fuck the consequences". But we're always weighing this up, 100% of the time.

So a better thing to consider, deeply, would be "why did i make this thread? why did i want to tell people this? what am i hoping to hear?"

the problem here is that it can lead some to "try to be themselves", which ultimately leads to frustration. Rather, it's wise to point out that they're ALREADY being themselves, acting how they want to act, even if that includes doing things which make them feel like they're acting how they DON'T want to! We're complex characters indeed, our will being the device of the act.

People taught to follow their brains not hearts. There is 'common sense' built into all of us to tell what is right and what is wrong. Being a person your not can never be good for a mind. OP I say just be yourself and be proud, you will be surprised who you meet along the way. I was kinda the same as you untill a few months ago when I decided to 'be myself', now im not saying it hasnt been bumby and I have lost a few aquainences along the way butI have also drawn to me alot of new people who are more like me and assist me with what I need to do. Dont be afraid, fear can be overcome. Be proud you are you for a reason and a purpose. But untill you live to your full potential you will never be satisfied

I no longer take any drugs (only ever smoked a tiny bit of weed), and yep, do copy what others do, but when pushed always resort to being me.

When alone with a mate from work we can talk. And been noticing others at work are beginning to copy me a little.

My work is hard (supposedly the hardest job there is), so there are no others like me in this industry.

And whilst I have met other intelligent people, I am yet to meet other intelligent people who are willing to go the whole 9 yards.

I think some of the responses here seem to be, "gee, I feel different, too. So you're just like me OP, we're superior to them."

But my question for you, OP, is how do you feel different from others? In what ways do you feel you stick out. How do you try to be "normal"? In other words, what is your personal brand of otherness?

I think you're saying that you could easily be brutal but you don't want to let yourself go that way. I feel the same and I was going to make a thread about it.

Yes, I scare the ones that scare "normal" people.

When it comes to choosing my life or someone elses who is trying to hurt me, there is no choice.

But if I had to risk my life to save a decent person, I would not hesitate either.
