If you look at the cabinets being shown, they have little clips around the edge of the doors. This indicates that they are NEMA 12X electrical enclosures. NEMA 12X enclosures are rated for submersion in water. If the maintenance guys were doing their jobs and keeping the cabinets securely close. And used the proper cord grips sealing the cables going into the cabinets. The damage would have been significantly less.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26591643 The motor controller looks like electrical rather than water damage. Why they didn't power it all down as the storm surge began to flood the tunnels? Quoting: Fred 26677941 Because then they wouldn't get it replaced by FEMA and federal tax dollars! This way, blaming their old obsolete equipment on Sandy, we all get to pay for replacement.
