It appears he spoke a little truth. we may know good and evil, we are not God, we die.
But do you think God doesn't want us the have knowledge? I seriously doubt that. And what is th tree of life?

The Hebrew word that the word "snake" was translated from is the word NAKASH. It does mean snake, but it also means enchanter, deceiver. Which makes more sense? The snake deceived Eve, or the deceiver deceived Eve. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is satan. The tree of LIFE is Jesus. Only if you freely choose the tree of life will you become like gods and life forever. Could it have been enchanting the other way? Enchanting in the way of making eve aware and teaching her how to return back to the source, not "God".
