Must be a kid. Most people are not old at 50 or 60. I'm a woman, 61, just recently retired from gigging. My hair is halfway down my back, blond, and thick. My tight jeans look every bit as good now as when I was 30. My boobs are actually better now. Go figure.
When my new winter knee high boots with 4 inch heels came in, and I tried them on over my tights, my husband thought I looked so sexy that he told me to buy some more.
He's 65, a rock and roll drummer, kick ass, in demand, looks better now than he did at 40.

Probably. Old guys (really old), and old women start to look the same too.

Most of the "feminine" features are designed for child bearing or child rearing, so carrying those extra traits becomes inefficient at the point at which childbirth is no longer required.

It's like how certain female athletes stop menstruating when their body fat goes below a certain level. The body tries to maintain itself for the longest time or optimal purpose.

the internet has brought them all out. before the net came along, these men would have to fester alone with their thoughts. now they can share their resentment anonymously from the safety of their lonely bedrooms, and feel a little bit better for a while

As a woman who is 50 (God, I hate the sound of that), I have to agree with you. I think the hormone issue is a lot of it. It causes weight gain around the middle and the face to round out and the eyes to get puffy. Studies have shown that most women of this age have fatty liver disease (which also means they are well on their way to metabolic disorder, too).

I personally found relief when I discovered that I was reacting to wheat - once I cut gluten from my diet amazing things started happening. I lost weight, my night blindness improved, my carpal tunnel improved, much more energy, etc. We all have to figure out our own bodies and work to keep them healthy.

I think that many women of this age are tired (been there and done that and still struggle with it). We were of the generation where we thought women had to do all the cooking, cleaning, child-rearing, AND work. You know, the old, "I can bring home the bacon and fry it up in the pan" generation.

My day, for example, starts at 4:30 when I wake up to get ready for work. Between work and the commute, I am out of the house for 12 hours. Then, I have to cook, clean, maybe do laundry, walk the dog and feed the animals etc. in the evening. Weekends are for errands, mowing, fixing things around the house, more cleaning, and completing work I brought home. It seems I never get to do anything fun.

My kids are in college now but when they were home every day after work was filled with kid drop off/pick up for several of the following activities: flute lessons, piano lessons, tennis lessons, swim team, tennis team, marching band, tai kwon do, baseball, batting cage/lessons, guitar lessons. Now try to figure out how one person can do all that and not be exhausted and feel worn out by the time she is 50? I think the stress kills the adrenal glands after awhile...

Before you start ragging on the husband, he travels for his job and it out most of the time. He helps out when he is home by cooking and doing some of the heavy outside work.

It happens sooner for some of us. When I was 19, I cut my hair off real short, I told the lady Sinead O'Connor, but got the Demi Moore in Ghost hair cut. Quit dating until I was 23.

Tried dating again, quit at 36 and I will never date again.

That was 6 years ago and life is much more peaceful now.

Women are brainwashed from birth that marriage is the end all be all, it's not.
