How about building more jails? Wouldn't that serve two purposes? It would keep criminals off the street and the construction of new jails would stimulate the economy. Duh?

So we (I am in Calif) just voted ourselves a tax increase, but we cannot keep the scum off the streets

"...The plan calls for parole agents to review about 7,000 warrants against low-level offenders to determine if those parolees have violent offenses or multiple felonies, belong to gangs or committed new crimes. Agents will then decide whether to drop the warrant and release the felon from parole.

"..."

"Those criticisms come as the corrections department reacted to a report in the Fresno Bee on Friday that the man who killed two people at a chicken processing plant in Fresno earlier this week, then killed himself, was released from parole over the objections of his parole agent. The gunman, Lawrence Jones, was freed from prison in June 2011 and discharged from parole in May, even though his parole agent deemed him a danger.

Yes! And then, with just a few more laws, we can ALL have a cell.

Yea!...allow the law abibing citizens to faire for themselves, whilst the criminals are turned loose upon the public ...usual method of tyrannical governments prior to the takeover...speaking of criminals, .......they are in Washington ,D.C. and Chicago,IL......so, Obama finishes a golf game, and it's off to Asia for some summit or whatever...to allude the oncomming destruction of the U.S.
just waiting for the SHTF...been watching the USA go into the sewer for 52 years.tried to fight the gun grabbers, had some victories...tried to fight corrupt politicians as a delegate to the Republican party...found out it's all BS

Re: Calif: With jails jammed, state to drop some arrest warrants
I have been locked up in LA county more times than I can remember and have spent 6-7-8 hours locked in a room about 20 x 30 Feet, (Not meters) more than once, with 50 men in the same room.
Most of the people in the LA joint are in for a drug bust or a violation of a drug conviction probation.
I'm not sure what the numbers are now, but back when I was in the pokey, the Federal government was giving L.A county about $65.00 per inmate, per day.
It is huge Federal funding for city's. Pick a city, Los Angeles, Chicago, Ft.Lauderdale, Podunk or Anytown,USA.
The Cop's, the Mayor, the Public defender, the Prosecutor, the Deputy Sheriff or Police trainee.
The Fire fighter, the Ambulance guy's and the Motor vehicle department worker drones are all in bed together by force of government employee unions, and they are imprisoning their neighbors for personal gain.
Readers from overseas will ask themselves if the USA is really that corrupt, well yes it is,and that is only the filthy sheen on the surface!
Every day thousands of supposedly Christian people go to work and make a nice fat living form the suffering of their countrymen.
The law of the land in the USA is the Constitution of the United States, period.
Any attempt to ABROGATE the rights of a U.S, citizen i a crime under Federal law.
A local or state Statute is a STATUTORY INSTRUMENT , I.E a contract of agreement between two or more parties.
For example, your right to free travel in the USA can only be given away by entering into an agreement with the State and driving is not the same as Traveling, read up and learn something real, dickheads.

Then you might want to go and explore God given or natural rights.
A drivers licence is nothing more than a contract between you and the State,so is a SSI# and a Birth Certificate.
Contract law.

The guard union of California : CCPOA is always trying to scream the sky is falling. California is flat broke ,despite the mega tax increases. We can't afford to lock up everyone. This is long over due.

Put those prisoners to work in work camps...and introduce a simnple system to make sure that the prisoners work - you don't work, you don't eat

America has about 10 million useless eaters that could be productive inside a forced work camp. In fact that is excactly what FEMA camps are, they are work camps for Americans where Americans will voluntarily arrive at to be assigned work in exchange for food and shelter.

In Russia they called them the Gulags.

Work will set you free.
