Agents will then decide whether to drop the warrant and release the felon from parole. "..." "Those criticisms come as the corrections department reacted to a report in the Fresno Bee on Friday that the man who killed two people at a chicken processing plant in Fresno earlier this week, then killed himself, was released from parole over the objections of his parole agent. The gunman, Lawrence Jones, was freed from prison in June 2011 and discharged from parole in May, even though his parole agent deemed him a danger. How about building more jails? Wouldn't that serve two purposes? It would keep criminals off the street and the construction of new jails would stimulate the economy. Duh? |

California is flat broke ,despite the mega tax increases. We can't afford to lock up everyone. This is long over due. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16777177 Put those prisoners to work in work camps...and introduce a simnple system to make sure that the prisoners work - you don't work, you don't eat America has about 10 million useless eaters that could be productive inside a forced work camp. In fact that is excactly what FEMA camps are, they are work camps for Americans where Americans will voluntarily arrive at to be assigned work in exchange for food and shelter. |

People need to think about what they read! Apathy builds walls that are only brought down by pain and suffering. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 27475436 United States 11/10/2012 08:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The guard union of California : CCPOA is always trying to scream the sky is falling. California is flat broke ,despite the mega tax increases. We can't afford to lock up everyone. This is long over due. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16777177 Interesting bunch, worth a look: [link to ordinary-gentlemen.com] "The growth of California’s incarceration system, and the decline of its quality, tracks the accession to power of the state’s prison guards union, the California Correctional Peace Officers Association (“CCPOA”). The CCPOA has played a significant role in advocating pro-incarceration policies and opposing pro-rehabilitative policies in California. In 1980, CCPOA’s 5,600 members earned about $21,000 a year and paid dues of about $35 a month. After the rapid expansion of the prison population beginning in the 1980s, CCPOA’s 33,000 members today earn approximately $73,000 and pay monthly dues of about $80. These dues raise approximately $23 million each year, of which the CCPOA allocates approximately $8 million to lobbying. As Ms. Petersilia explains, “The formula is simple: more prisoners lead to more prisons; more prisons require more guards; more guards means more dues-paying members and fund-raising capability; and fund-raising, of course, translates into political influence.” So this is a union promoting itself? Interesting way to do it. Make everyone into criminals, preserve job security. Is this a correct assessment? |
