If Texas did secede and was allowed to go, I would take my education and work ethic and move there. I'm leaving the People's Socialist State of Illinois anyway before it collapses.

Nothing. No one in power actually cares about the petitions. They exist to make one feel as though he or she has any say in policy making.

There is a legal and constitutional process for states to split, merge, join, and leave.

This process requires the state(s) in question have their legislature(s) by vote approve the change proposal by a supermajority of 66%. Once approved by the state(s) it must then be sent to federal legilarure and be approved by both houses again by the same supermajority.

Then and only then can the change take place. The same process does not apply to dependant territories nor does it apply to protectorates.

Don't you find it ironic that many of the same people who whined about obama's reelection being the "death of America" are the same people who want to sign these petitions and kick-start the process?

Well, Obama will Destroy the United States if we Don't break up the United States. I would rather have the United States be broken up into Multiple Countries than Have Obama Destroy the United States.
