Re: Hungry today. And Sunday. And Monday.
Miggy, are your food benefits a month behind or were they delayed last month? Googling, I found two "possible" reasons.

This one had a link to an NBC article, but it comes up page not found. It said in Oct. they would start coming 10 days later, but if yours weren't late last month, maybe this is the month it starts?
[link to www.topix.com]

This one says computer trouble shut cards down yesterday, but also says they won't know how many were/are affected until Monday.
[link to newsok.com]

This e how article tells how to check your benefits online. You might want to keep checking that.
[link to www.ehow.com]

Just noticed that the first link was for TN. But, one of the comments said, "From what I've read, the grocers association spearheaded the change. I guess they were having trouble keeping food on the shelves for 10 days and then had very little commerce the last twenty," but I've read posts elsewhere about the grocers assn. wanting things to change, so maybe other states are doing it too?

Re: Hungry today. And Sunday. And Monday.
What is with you poor people who can barely feed yourselves and are DIEHARD REPUBLICANS????

How stupid can you be??

MIGGY
Are you going to defend the foodstamp program from now on or join in with the jeers of your fellow repubs?

My political principles include not allowing the poor to starve in America.
What are your principles on the issue of poverty?

please don't lump all republicans together

I and my family are conservatives, because we believe government is bloated and the money we pay in taxes never goes to the purposes that would most help our country

but make no mistake, we want to help our country. We'd just rather that the money go directly to the people who need it. This is the same reason I don't donate to the Red Cross or Save the Children, because most of the money goes to pay for overpriced salaries of their executives

if I send Miggy $25, she will receive ALL that money, and if just a few dozen people do that, she will have enough to feed her family for a few weeks

If i send Washington DC that $25 dollars, it will be a drop in the bucket, vanish into the cesspool and end up in the slush funds which pay the bloated salaries of DC staffers, lobbyists and the others who have turned the VA, MD area into one of the most overpriced places to live in the country

I grew up in New Hampshire, which was also Libertarian. We did everything there on a town by town level. We would meet at monthly town meetings, decide how to spend our town's money, and I remember often the parents deciding to send money to people in our town who were having hard times, to help them pay their heat bills or mortgages

It is very difficult to ignore a neighbor who is in need, because you pass them and look them in the eye and you see yourself if fate were just a little different

It is very easy to ignore some nameless stranger in a place you have never seen

That is why government has to return to becoming local and responsible for the people nearby.

None of that bullshit helps Miggy, DOES IT?

What she needs is FOOD and she gets it easily with foodstamps.
The program works exactly as it's intended.

It's the people she votes for who call her a parasite and cut her off.
The Democrats have fought and fought to allow her to eat properly and what does she do? She sneers and jeers at them and votes to strengthen the bad guys!

People should rely on churches, you say?
That's crap because churches cannot feed the millions of poor in this country. They do not have the resources.

The hell with your rightwing Looneytarianism.

hello hateful asshat

I'm the one on the previous page who told Miggy to set up a Paypal account and I would be the first to send her money

I also checked with my group of friends down here who volunteer, and every one of them would be glad to send her $5-$25

All you need is a few dozen people doing that, and her needs would be met

What the heck did you offer to do for her?

I have no idea why you people are so angry and hateful, but I will just put you ignore, because you obviously ate something or someone who disagreed with you and it's gone to your tiny little brain
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22192805

That's your solution??
Miggy needs to set up a network of dozens of people to support her as long as she needs it?

And this should be duplicated all across the country by the tens of millions of people who are food insecure? They all should get busy with setting up networks of generous people like you who will give them 20 bucks here and there?

THAT'S your Looneytarian solution??

I can't believe you people.

Re: Hungry today. And Sunday. And Monday.
I have a question for AC: 27364929

Why the hell do you need to put down and insult church groups (which I don't belong to BTW...I belong to private groups who like to help) and private groups who give help to those in distress and need?

What do you have to gain from pushing everyone onto government care, even when it sucks and the chain breaks down?

I have to seriously question your agenda

I have no idea why you also feel the need to insult and scorn people who are doing their best to help and who care...even if we don't belong to your party

I would gladly welcome anyone from any party who wants to help someone I care about

Why don't you?

I have no idea why so many democrats I meet lately are some of the nastiesti foul mouthed people I have had the misfortune to come across

If we can't be civil to each other, even when we disagree, then there is little help

and by the way, the raging anger you are feeling is a sign of something wrong in your own mind, nothing to do with me or the people I know

Get to a government doctor ASAP and get some meds

GFY... Foodstamps are a safety net to make sure that NO American goes hungry.

I for one hope to never need assistance -- but I have paid 100's of thousands to the government and if I ever become 'entitled' to receive them, Miggi and I will be standing in line together.

A few months ago I took my wifes aunt to the office in Houston that handles 'foodstamps'... there were 100 people there applying -- not one appeared to be American to me -- not one spoke a word of English... complain about that and you and I can stand together.

the only thing I can give thanks for is that you no doubt live far from me

I haven't insulted you once, yet you are ill mannered, angry and lacking in compassion and you hurl expletives at me without any restraint

simply because I don't agree with you on a political abstraction

even if I want to help someone, if I don't belong to your political group and I don't agree with you on how our government should work, you feel I have no value no use and you're not even ashamed of your bad manners and nastiness

this is why this counttry may be headed for much harder times ahead

you are so egotistical, so certain that only you know best about anything, you can't abide someone disagreeing with you

very sad...and sad that in your part of the country no doubt many are of your mind set

Again, I'm glad you don't live by me, because here my neighbors enjoy helping others and believe that even if our government is unable to provide that individuals are able to make the difference

may you come to see the light

this is what I have found as well

the ones who have suffered the most, often have the least to offer, are the most willing to share the little they have

I hope we all can be as generous when the time comes for us to share with our neighbors

you can't legislate charity or morality, but when it is all said and done, the generosity within the human heart is the ONLY thing we can count on...the innate goodness of our neighbors, not some mythical government, not some far flung charity organization who may never show up

OMG. OP asked if other folks were not getting their funds in their accounts...she nevera sked for food. Or money.
In fact, said she did not want this to turn into a charity thread!

I have brought in many homeless people and fed them and sheltered them. I did this with little to no money. I did it for years and there seemed to always be just enough. Sometimes I'd cry cos I did not know how I was going to make my bills but somehow there was food and there was an extra set of hands.

Some of you are so quick to twist things. Miggy was just asking a simple question.

Now I am much better off than then...and no one in need to share with.

I apologize if I have the wrong person. hf

Yes OP did do that and much more. Take a look at OP's thread history. OP is fraud and a beggar.

OP was previously warned about this.

Do not be fooled. Look up its thread history for yourself.

Hey there. I joined after lurking just to post this.
I'm in Oklahoma city, I see you're in Oklahoma. If you're centrally located, I can share from my surplus. Pleas don't be too proud, we're neighbors :)

Yes, my friend.

I am part of the problem.

I apologize for having made the unwise choice of exiting my mother's womb.

What does that have to do with being on food stamps?

Re: Hungry today. And Sunday. And Monday.
My fellow Americans,

My biggest wish is for Dems and Repubs to wake up and realize the elites have DIVIDED and CONQUERED the American middle class. While people argue over petty differences, our government has sent jobs and manufacturing overseas. This began in earnest in the 80's and no one said a thing. I was a teenager and I went to my parents and said "if this keeps up for a couple decades, we won't have enough jobs in the USA anymore!" Well, here we are and our country has been struggling to survive the past five years. The ONLY thing that will revive us as a nation is all of us people coming together and marching, millions of us, with our legal weapons in hand, peacefully protesting and demanding a resignation of the entire government in D.C. We must take back our state's rights, stand together, in unison, against the enemy. Your neighbor is not your enemy, our "leaders" are the enemy. They have sold us out. It's high time they pay.

I am a very generous person, but I don't offer what I don't have. I gave $600 in cash to a neighbor to pay his mortgage a few years ago. I asked for nothing in return and I got nothing. If he asked me again today, I couldn't do it.

I have also spent thousands of dollars in food and new household goods to someone I have never met. That was in the past year. I asked for nothing in return.

You have to know when you could give and when you have to feed yourself. Some people don't understand this and they get themselves in trouble. Not good.
