I have lived long enough to see that "those who have little" have little because they do not know how to save for a "rainy day." Instead, they either give it away or spend foolishly and then wonder why they don't have anything.

The neighbor I gave $600 to for his mortgage had a new $40,000 truck that he polished everyday, his wife had a new car. Me? I owned a used Taurus that was 6 years old. I still don't regret giving him the money. A few months later, I saw that he sold his truck and bought a small van that was rusted. I felt sorry for him then, but I think he learned a valuable lesson.

Live within your means!

You can't live within your means if you don;t have a job. Savings are rapidly depleted and then what? Anyone of us could be on this sinking ship. In fact, soon we will be. Please don't judge others.

Humans get used to "regularity" and plan their living arrangements on the expectation that if a specified item (money, food stamps, bills, etc) has come on the same day of the month for the past "X" number of months, or years, it will continue to do so. I'm sure that Miggy made her offer of help knowing that she had more than enough to last so long as her expected amount came on the day that it was supposed to.

You must be a very young person, Jhamil, to not have experienced this once or twice in your own life.

I worked in a factory for years, and everyone got used to getting their Friday paycheck on Wednesday of Thanksgiving week (since the plant was closed Thursday and Friday). It had been done that way ever since the plant opened 50 years before. The last year I worked there, it was announced on WEDNESDAY that the paychecks wouldn't be issued until the following Monday. So we had no warning, and since it was a minimum-wage/piecework job pretty much everyone had been planning on that paycheck to buy Thanksgiving dinner. The previous week's paycheck usually went to pay all the bills for the month because they came in during the first couple of weeks of the month. But we didn't worry because we knew that we'd be getting paid on Wednesday. But, it didn't happen.

I'm sure that it made for some interesting Thanksgiving dinners that year.

Speaking of "regularity", are you having issues in that area? That might explain your full-of-s**t attitude.

What don't people understand....it was never preached for the 'Government' to provide for people. Jesus always viewed Caesar as a PIG in it's trough...He told his followers to provide for their neighbor instead.

God also commanded 'Though shalt not steal', which is what EVERY government does. Thus how can any government be for God?

Anyone who thinks this is a LEFT/RIGHT issue, I beg you to pick up a bible.

i have silver! and when i NEED something i pawn it. then pay the money back. i would never depend on a hand out from the tax payers. if the time comes im sure i could trade some silver for food.

You are wrong about her. That's just the kind of person she is. Even with little to support herself she still wants to help others in any way she can. And I would consider it an honor to help her.

I gave a woman 5.00 last week she was getting gas was asking people fir money she had no formula for her child, she looked normal but she also looked real embarrassed to ask, also my mom gave a lady some money in the dollar store too she was crying at the check out did not have enough money to pay for her food, she only had a few things, these are normal people not homeless or scamming people regular people, it's getting worse, I am very worried if it comes to this what will we do?

We have some decent food banks over here - have you tried any of those yet? They help supplement things in the mean time - I have also heard that some fast food places will help people out with a bite if you talk to the manager and explain your situation.
