Obamas closing line of his acceptance speech was a (not so veiled) warning to these states.

Sooo not going to work.

First off, the petition itself has to come from the State Governments and ALREADY have the backing of the citizens of that State. Likely it would be done through a State Referendum Vote first.

Secondly.

Everyone creating, and signing these petitions on the White House website, has just given the Federal Government their trackable IP Addresses, and confirmed that they're willing to commit Sedition and Treason against the Union.

Offenses, which are still punishable, by Hanging.

It is NOT treason or sedition to demand the Constitution Right to ignore an Illegal and Traitorous Government.

I am in Norway now and if you want to see what kind of stupid shit Oblabla has in mind just come here.

Were it not for massive amounts of oil money Norwegians would be broke on their ass and back to eating dried fish. No work ethic because of the nanny state.

Yes, they are the usurpers and treasonous ones, not the people demanding that they follow the constitution.

And states may secede. Many of the original ratifiers of the Constitution have that right in their state constitutions as a condition of ratification.

But these southern states have no compelling issue. In 1860 the traitors were determined to keep and expand slavery but what's the issue now?

The right of women to obtain abortions?

Taking the top tax rate from 36% back up to 39%?

The fact that Obama is half black and was born in Hawaii?

I don't get it.
Obama is far from radical. He's about as liberal as Ford, Nixon, or Eisenhower.

How about the right to self determination; the right of accepting only the traditional marriage; the right to only follow the Constitution; the rights guaranteed by the Constitution; the law of the land followed by all, including the President.

This is what created this country into the greatest in the world. This is what is worth fighting and dying for. This is NOT what Obama wants. As long as he refuses to obey the law of the land, the people of this country have a right and the requirement to fight against him and all that refuse to accept the Constitution.
 Quoting: 071676

Yes! Just like Ann Banhardt is refusing to pay taxes to a country who uses her money to pay for something that is against her values. (abortion, etc...)

Texas mentioned in their petition that the we are no longer following what this country was founded on, they want out. Their right

You really are a dumb fuck, aren't you. You blame the Teaparty for trying to destroy this country, but you give the man that IS destroying it a frees pass. You condemn others for doing what is within their legal and just right to demand from the President and government of this country. They demand that the Constitution of the United States be upheld, and ALL of its laws obeyed. This President and government, even if illegally elected, do NOT have a legal or moral right to violate the Constitution, or demand that everyone else accept his violation of the law as just. He was the one that stated "the Constitution is an impediment to my authority"!

As it says in the Declaration of Independence, a people have a right, a duty to throw off the yoke of an unjust or traitorous government. This very belief that help create this country gives everyone the RIGHT, the DUTY to throw off the shackles of an unjust and traitorous government.

Ah, no "we" didn't elect obama. This is a classic case of the tyranny of the majority, where 51% get to decide for the 49%. And that is just who voted. Most of the non voters realize that the entire system is corrupt and so abstained.

Your "foundation" is fast losing legitimacy.

Re: U.S. Succession thread: We the People!
So first off, the States should have every right to secede. If it is of course what the majority in that state want.

Second, to clear up some of the ignorant statements... the last secession which was followed by the Civil War had to do with STATE RIGHTS not slavery. Slavery was the door into the State Rights discussion. No doubt many of the southerners at the time were mad about abolishing slavery, but State Rights was the underlying issue.

Next I'm not shocked about the proposals of secession. This really was a long time coming because the State Rights issue was really only postponed after the Civil War and not resolved.

Some of the critical people may be wanting secession because of Obama. I say critical because even though I don't care for Obama even the least bit, that is still an extreme reason to want secession. BUT given the state of our economy, how the Federal government disregards what the people want, their over-taxation, double taxation, constant wars and involvement in others affairs, the Fed telling the States what they can and can't do regardless of what the state voters vote on, and of course Obama does have some play in it seeing as he is the one of the worst people to be running this country especially in the State of our economy.

Another issue that I think could very well lead to another very large scale state rights issue is the legalization of marijuana in Colorado and Washington. The Fed will no doubt come in and tell them that even though they voted it legal they have no right. This will undoubtedly end up in the Supreme Court over numerous cases against the Fed. All it takes is the Supreme Court disregarding the 10th Amendment and siding with the Fed on this issue. If they do rule in favor of the Fed they basically just handed the entire government to the Fed and told States they don't have their rights anymore. This would anger some States (regardless of Marijuana just like Slavery did back in 1860) and we could very well have a group of states seceding over their rights.

Secession really has been a long time coming and I wouldn't doubt we will hear more about it more often.

There wouldn't be a war. The Obamunists are blacks and women. The women would be useless in a war. Fat menopausal birds and little Princess Bling-Blings would be hugging their knees and crying.

The blacks are more of a threat but years of welfare has made them lazy. Plus they can't shoot worth a shit.

I'd bet the Obamunists would be happy to let the Red States go. They think they're better than us "inbred hicks". They wouldn't miss us any more than we would them.

Besides, their elite like their lattes hot and their beds soft, and war would disrupt their tender, cultured lifestyles.fatlady
