All the explicit e-mails were from his personal e-mail account (home computer)...Not even his gov't issued PC....

So, there wasn't even a "misuse of gov't assets"

Hacking into his home computer to see if he had been "spoofed"

And the alleged "spoofing" wasn't a business opportunity from the CIA Director or even Penis pills from Petraeus...

It involved a series of explicit e-mails sent between Petraeus & his official biographer... Someone he had a legitimate reason to contact....

They were really going after this guy...

One of the officials said that the recipient of the e-mails complained to Petraeus about them and that the FBI later obtained e-mails between Petraeus and Broadwell in which they discussed the harassment.

Former CIA director David Petraeus' resignation Friday amid an extramarital affair has "nothing to do" with his plan to testify on the Sept. 11 attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya, House Homeland Security chair Peter King, R-N.Y., said, adding that the retired general's testimony is "essential."

None of this can be verified so Petraeus can still testify with his embedded credibility on Benghazi fully intact.

There were two versions of this story from the outset...

The liberal version was that she was the stalker...It was on Slate last night...

The conservative version was he was the stalker...It was on foxnews last night..

I've cited Washington Post & NY Times b/c, whatever you think of them, they are the papers of record for America's political & economic elite.

It's also known that ABC agency whistleblowers air their dirty laundry in the two official papers. When it's ABC agency disinformation, they usually use papers outside New York/DC (sometimes outside US) - so they don't look like the source...

The two versions may have been sloppy reporting BUT several people told me that they are symptoms of the war going on in DC right now. Some want Petraeus totally humiliated; others not so much...

Anyway, the Washington Post article (original post) discusses three FBI officials who were sources of their report. This means their version was provided by an official (but unnamed) source, and then confirmed by two other official (but unnamed) sources...

That's SOP for these types of stories. This is the official version of events. Doesn't mean that it's correct - but it is the official version right now...

This Benghazi attack story just wont go away....it will eventually get back to Obama.

Even a low level intelligence operative knows better than to send potentially damaging emails EVER. That the head of all the spies in the most powerful country on earth sent sexually explicit emails from his home computer says one of two things: Either 1) He is SO STOOPID that he never should have graduated from West Point much less made four star general, OR, 2) this is all a staged event to give him an excuse to resign so he wouldn't have to testify about the debacle at Benghazi. The salacious nature of the event is meant to convince us that this is genuine.

The following article, written a while ago has many aspects of this case , biography, psychology, Petraeus' feelings toward the administration and his COIN strategy. I've not read the entire COUNTER INSURGENCY STRATEGY.

This is huge. Aaron Klein, the author of the piece, is very credible. He has inside sources in the Middle East.

It would be a travesty if the truth about Benghazi doesn't get told.

My one issue - why does this keep him from testifying? He may have been subject to executive privilege as CIA Director. He's lost that.

He's still subject to congressional subpoena...

He can still claim the national security exception or claim the 5th...but no one in DC likes to claim the fifth...

It may keep him from testifying on the first day of hearings, but I don't see how it would keep him from testifying...

He'll be subpoenaed. I think you are correct. Some way or somehow won't testify.

If everything is on the up and up his resignation most likely wouldn't be accepted.
