American society dictates and brainwashes that one MUST be with other people . . . you must get married, even if you don't want to . . . you must have tons of friends, even if they are not true and loyal and you don't like them . . . you must have children, even if you don't want to be a parent . . . you must attend social functions, even if you're out of your element . . . you must talk on the phone, email, get a FFB account, tweet your every move . . . it's insane.

The truth is, there are some beings who are simply lone creatures - they do not want to be around people/sheeple, they don't want to "go along to get along", and they don't want to "do as others do" - they don't want to be part of the trite and sheeple-mentality existence.

The problem though, is that sometimes you can't be alone, because of financial issues, health issues, etc. which sadly require the help of others and that's very tough for those who love their independence and whose characters simply cannot adapt to being with people.

I know for a fact that your intellectual logic can tell you that you really should work to develop social connections . . . but your true self tells you it simply is not who you really are and you'll never, ever be comfortable trying to integrate into foreign territory.
