That's a good theory/concept. Liquid magnets. It would make a lot of sense.

I keep telling people to go to the library and for FREE, check out "The Complete idiots Guide to 2012". It explains the I-Ching (Terence McKenna's deciphering of it), Hopi and (mostly) Mayan writings about that date, and the technical information that we now have about our solar system, our galaxy and the universe and how our new-found knowledge coincides with ancient writings.

That's the only reason I'm interested in that date. We're now discovering with our "modern" technology what ancients from several different locations around the planet, with no communication we're aware of, have known for a hell of a long time. And all they had for technology was a couple of sticks. How did the Mayans know the shape of our galaxy and where our solar system is in it, and when it (our galaxy) was going to cross the center of the universe?

Whether anything's going to happen is still wide open for debate with me. But the ancient knowledge cross referenced with our modern knowledge is interesting. The book focuses on that, and the Mayan's concept of time and their mathematical system.

Change is always happening but definitely geological events and weather events are increasing.

Unless if that date marks the occurrence of an astronomical event so massive it changes life on Earth so dramatically.

Well, it is indeed an astronomical event, the alignment of the solar system ecliptic with the plane of the milky way. Mayans were indeed notable astronomers, whose capacity of observation was astounding and their precise calculations still leave current scientists scratching their heads. To do so with the level of tools they had, is something that really speaks volumes about what humans can achieve by way of patience and comitment.

Now, the only thing that I'm sure about this event is that, as all celestial bodies have their magnetic field, including our galaxy, at the moment of crossing the galactic plane, the solar system will enter, for a while, in a zone where the magnetism will tend to zero, hence, a magnetically neutral zone. What will it entail? Your guess is as good as mine, but good ole Gaia has gone through this many times, and probably so mankind, and we both are still here.

It's not charge, is polarity. Milky way has a magnetic north and south pole as so does the solar system (is the magnetic field caused by the heliosphere). Only that the magnetic field of the galaxy is humongous compared to our solar system's. At the moment of crossing the galactic plane, wi will go from one polarity to the other, with a moment of zero magnetism. As I say, what will happen, I have no idea, but probably nobody will notice, also.
