Actually getting my CompTIA A+ cert first as it is much easier and I have a lot of experience with desktop support, should be able to get that in about 3 weeks then going to start focusing on CCNA. Hopefully I will have both certifications within about 3 months. |

There is always a need for network engineers, and that is something that cannot be sent off shore as it deals with physical components and requires constant attention. If you can get your CCIE eventually you will be in very high demand. Salary can be anywhere from 100k+ with a CCIE, but I hear it's a very hard test. |

I seem to be losing these jobs after 4-6 months especially call center environments. If you can market yourself as a consultant might work for you, I used to do consultant work in computer security or you can look towards a particular niche that might provide an income for example photo restoration. It might seem frivolous however as times become harder people enjoy a taste of nostalgia and connecting to their roots. You have to evaluate all your skills and not just your education and look around you and see if you can fulfill a need in your area. |
