Texas might be the first but it would not be the last state to go.
As for military, Texas has the largest(I believe) Army base in the USA.
In Succession, all the military equipment within a State's borders are forfeited to become property of the new State/Nation.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27278377

Where did you hear that? The military equipment is forfeited to the state? Not in a million years.

Texas does have the rght to drop out od the union if it chooses to do so. Its the only state that can. Texas won its independence from Mexico and became a nation. Texas actally is a soverign nation today which is why its the only state that can fly its flag as high as the USA flag. The colonial us was very week at first and knew it needed Texasfor strength so it asked Texas 3 times to join the union and Texas finally ageed but only after the U.S. offered the right to seceed anytime it wishes.
 Quoting: AAONMS 20688175

No it does not.
No matter how often this LIE is repeated won't make it true.
No document at all says such thing.
Texas can, as agreed when Texas came into the union,
break into 5 separate states.
that IS written in the documents.
And that is ALL.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26753099

Sorry but your wrong. You dont know Texas history. The document does exist. There is also only 1 reason Texas can fly its flag as high as the USA and its because Texas is a nation within a nation!! And they have some rights above all other states because of it.

I'm trying to figure out how that would work. Texas has the 18th best economy in the world. But you really wanna be the USA's biggest enemy? Without even a military?

But hey, go Texas!

Do you really think the military would stay and support Obama? Think again. The military despises Obama. He leaves soldiers in the field of combat to die with no back up and court martials Seals for bringing in terrorist and the terrorist saying he was mistreated. He TOOK THE WORD of a TERRORIST over the Navy Seals. Do you think for a second they would carry out an order on the people? NO They will be the first to help out.

There is so much disinformation about Texas in this topic I don't even know where to start...

It's not a nation in a nation. It can't leave the union. It wasn't asked three times to join the US, it asked the US 3 times.

Why wouldn't they sucka, when president Obama is the commander in chief of the military to whom they signed up and took an oath to follow his commands? Seals aren't stupid like you hopeless nut jobs on here, they seen the damage of what a drone can do in 3d, nor do they want to be put to death in a military prison for treason for some mullet wearing fools, losing their pension and all.

You suckas been listen to faux news and KKKarl "always wrong" Rove too much because, you guys cognitive skills are lacking?.... Also the black population in the military is over 30%, not including the Hispanics, Asians, Jews, white women and gay population. This is not the good boy military from the early 1900's.banana2

Re: Sign THE TEXAS PETITION DEMANDING THE INDEPENDENCE OF TEXAS (It's NOT The WhiteHouse Petition).
[link to www.texassecede.com]

Q:
Doesn't the Texas Constitution reserve the right of Texas to secede?

A:

This heavily popularized bit of Texas folklore finds no corroboration where it counts: No such provision is found in the current Texas Constitution[1] (adopted in 1876) or the terms of annexation.[2] However, it does state (in Article 1, Section 1) that "Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States..." (note that it does not state "...subject to the President of the United States..." or "...subject to the Congress of the United States..." or "...subject to the collective will of one or more of the other States...")

Neither the Texas Constitution, nor the Constitution of the united States, explicitly or implicitly disallows the secession of Texas (or any other "free and independent State") from the United States. Joining the "Union" was ever and always voluntary, rendering voluntary withdrawal an equally lawful and viable option (regardless of what any self-appointed academic, media, or government "experts"—including Abraham Lincoln himself—may have ever said).

Both the original (1836) and the current (1876) Texas Constitutions also state that "All political power is inherent in the people ... they have at all times the inalienable right to alter their government in such manner as they might think proper."

Likewise, each of the united States is "united" with the others explicitly on the principle that "governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed" and "whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends [i.e., protecting life, liberty, and property], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government" and "when a long train of abuses and usurpations...evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security." Re: Sign THE TEXAS PETITION DEMANDING THE INDEPENDENCE OF TEXAS (It's NOT The WhiteHouse Petition).
So much misinformation here..

Texas can secede, when the secession is a movement of the people, for the people..

"Texas is a free and independent State ... All political power is inherent in the people ... they have at all times the inalienable right to alter their government in such manner as they might think proper."
— Texas Constitution (1876)

"When a government has ceased to protect the lives, liberty and property of the people, from whom its legitimate powers are derived...[it is] the inherent and inalienable right of the people to...abolish such government, and create another in its stead..."
— Texas Declaration of Independence (1836)

"Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed... Whenever government becomes destructive to life, liberty, or property [i.e., the pursuit of happiness], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it... It is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."
— American Declaration of Independence (1776)

Are you noticing a trend here? The constitutions were created to protect the people from the government, not the government from the people... its all of yalls twisted "democratic" lines of thought that cause you to believe it cant be done...

No original legislation by our founding fathers was created to protect the government from the people.... after all our founding fathers just went through that mess when they declared their independence.. you would think they had the foresight to see how it easily it could happen again.... and they did see it..

yall twisted democrats can call me wrong all day.. but in the end.. if you argue these points you need to take a look at the constitutions and place your arguments with the founding fathers..

Proud Texan.

Lets just say the US GOvt. ALLOWED Texas to secede, first, you arent getting the hardware for the military, PERIOD. The Soldiers there are Federal troops and airmen, you wont be getting any nukes or missiles.

Second, you arent going to forcibly take anything that belongs to Uncle Sugar,if you want your newly formed Republic to last more than a half hour.

Lastly, your not going to win this in a court battle with some ancient legalese BS to win your case. It will be the same as when Santa Ana run it, you better find a Houston, real fast.

It was deemed unconstitutional after the Civil War. They will have to fight the USA to sucede..thus become an enemy.

No, all the nukes, etc. wouldn't belong to TX.
