They have four earthquakes in Myanmar: 7.0, 6.6, 6.8, & 6. That's because there are 2 feeds, USGS & EMSC... Globalincident maps shows quakes from both of them so it can get a little confusing sometime.. It's because the earthquake/s get revised and updated. Global incident maps don't delete the old automatic quakes. They leave them on and when USGS revise the EQ magnitude, another pops on there and makes you think it's a different quake... A good way to spot identical quakes but when it showing different magnitudes is to look at the times they were posted. This will give you an indication that a previous quake on their has been reviewed and changed accordingly. |

Gold is the most precious metal. Yes, Myanmars love gold. Gold is used every where: pagoda, monasteries, accessories of the nobles, and so on. Most pagodas in Myanmar are covered with gold leaves, or for those who cannot afford use gold paint in the modern days. When you get to Myanmar, or if you have ever been to Myanmar, this question will need not be answered. You will see golden things or gold-covered monuments in every direction you turn. No wonder, this is called the Golden Land! map [link to www.emsc-csem.org] [link to en.wikipedia.org] did you know the flag 5 pointed white star [link to en.wikipedia.org] did you know 6.6 quake strikes Myanmar Last updated 15:15 11/11/2012 [link to www.stuff.co.nz] A strong earthquake has struck northern Myanmar, but no injuries were immediately reported. The magnitude-6.6 temblor hit the area at 2.12pm today (NZ time) according to the US Geological Survey. The quake had a depth of just 10 kilometres and hit 117 kilometres north of Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city. The quake was felt in Bangkok, the capital of neighbouring Thailand. It comes just a week ahead of a visit to Myanmar by US President Barack Obama. Obama will be the first US president to visit the one-time pariah nation, which is emerging from decades of military rule. did you know a mountainous republic in southeastern Asia on the Bay of Bengal; "much opium is grown in Myanmar" |

Either way, Global incidents map in my view is very confusing to a lot of people. Really, they should have a system in place that deletes the old Automatic EQs or something after the quakes have been reviewed and posted.... |

[link to quakes.globalincidentmap.com] USGS reports -- 4.8 GeoScience Australia reports -- 5.2 EMSC reports -- 5.0 This looks like on 3 quakes that Globalincidentmap are showing, but if you look at the times, they all show 02.55am so it's just the 1 quake being reported differently by the 3 feeds... While I don't hate Globalincident map, I prefer never to use it as it can get a bit confusing when you have a big quake and many aftershocks all showing up... My advice, stick to USGS if you don't want to siff through all the mess on Global incident map.... |

Click here and it does show it: [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] Then, scroll down to Chiang Mai, Thailand, click on it and it doesn't show up, now do you understand, it's not my fault, ok..... USGS being a pain in the ass, now when you click on it, it is showing up now....tut tut It always did show up for me and the rest of us. That is why I posted the direct link for Chiang Mai. Tut tut indeed. Dude, STFU yeah.... I'm only posting information as I see it. I posted the fucking dam link in the first place for you to look at. For your information, I know more info on seismographs than a lot of people on here. I even have a long well established Yellowstone thread on here, so I do know my stuff. It's not my fault that USGS didn't update the graphs straight away from my end... Remember, I gave you that link on here in the first place. I have told you that is USGS not updating straight away, so leave it at that yeah.... OK, I bow with massive respect to your self-proclaimed and superior seismological prowess, and also to your modesty. But no, you didn't tell me or anyone else about the USGS link. And yes, it was updating from the very start - at least an hour before your ill-informed post. Before you start telling people to "STFU", perhaps you should refresh your browser, or perhaps consider that your ISP may be caching and delivering you a stale page. Your inference of a massive, worldwide cover up by USGS of a 6.5 quake in Burma is laughable. |
