Take a look at the live earthquakes map. They have four earthquakes in Myanmar: 7.0, 6.6, 6.8, & 6.

That's because there are 2 feeds, USGS & EMSC...

Globalincident maps shows quakes from both of them so it can get a little confusing sometime..

It's because the earthquake/s get revised and updated. Global incident maps don't delete the old automatic quakes. They leave them on and when USGS revise the EQ magnitude, another pops on there and makes you think it's a different quake...

A good way to spot identical quakes but when it showing different magnitudes is to look at the times they were posted. This will give you an indication that a previous quake on their has been reviewed and changed accordingly.

6.6 quake strikes Myanmar

A strong earthquake has struck northern Myanmar, but no injuries were immediately reported.

The magnitude-6.6 temblor hit the area at 2.12pm today (NZ time) according to the US Geological Survey. The quake had a depth of just 10 kilometres and hit 117 kilometres north of Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city.

The quake was felt in Bangkok, the capital of neighbouring Thailand.

It comes just a week ahead of a visit to Myanmar by US President Barack Obama. Obama will be the first US president to visit the one-time pariah nation, which is emerging from decades of military rule.

Either way, Global incidents map in my view is very confusing to a lot of people. Really, they should have a system in place that deletes the old Automatic EQs or something after the quakes have been reviewed and posted....

Take the Santa Cruz Eq just now for instance...

USGS reports -- 4.8
GeoScience Australia reports -- 5.2
EMSC reports -- 5.0

This looks like on 3 quakes that Globalincidentmap are showing, but if you look at the times, they all show 02.55am so it's just the 1 quake being reported differently by the 3 feeds...

While I don't hate Globalincident map, I prefer never to use it as it can get a bit confusing when you have a big quake and many aftershocks all showing up...

My advice, stick to USGS if you don't want to siff through all the mess on Global incident map....

I didn't say anything above about USGS covering this quake up at all so your wrong, I said either not updated yet or there not telling..which meant they haven't told us yet. There is NO mention of a conspiracy or shit in that post, so your wrong...

Also, I have stated that it is updating now. It wasn't when I was looking at it earlier. It might of been my ISP caching, HOWEVER, this was not my fault either. You telling me to basically fuck off and save my Bandwith was not on, especially when I told you the fucking problem and admitted that USGS had updated...

Damaging earthquake Myanmar – Up to 16 people killed so far

Earthquake overview : An extremely dangerous earthquake with a preliminary Magnitude of 7.0 occurred at 07:42 local time in Central Myanmar. Based on the current data, we fear for worst case scenarios.

So far, we can count 15-16 potential deaths, however numbers as high as 21 have been stated so far in the press.
