People, in the main, want to contribute to society. We feel bad about ourselves when we don't.

This depression is already starting to lift world wide, it will be another five years, but we will make it. More people need help right now to get by, but they aren't doing it because they are lazy.

Very few people want to get public assistance!

It's degrading and harmful to the mind and soul.

No, they just don't want their children to starve.

I'm getting a little concerned that so many people are complaining about the leeches and takers, but don't seem to be thinking about reality at all.

This Depression isn't Obama's fault.

Or Bush's.

Or Clinton's.

Or Bush's.

It's due to the ebb and flow of resources around the world. Sometimes things pull back, normally when the top few percent of earners become scared that they will start losing money.

We need to get back to hiring and spending out money, to get out of this. That means making people feel comfortable with the economy again. It will take time, since so many are frightened right now, but it will happen.

Don't give in to despair and don't pout for too long over this junk.

If we work together, we'll be alright.

It's STRUCTURAL, jobs taken by technology, illegal aliens, and off shoring will never come back.

No it isn't. While some jobs move overseas, others will be created here, because of the needs of the system itself.

Or rather, it really is structural, but not in the way you think. Those jobs were already taken by machines and replaced.

Those off shore jobs? They can't exist in a vacuum, and need us to buy things, services and what not, to keep things going.

Will we have to change and adapt? Sure.

But we will. We don't have a choice.

Remember, the economy is a fiction that we all take part in. Depressions are a fiction as well. We break them by believing them out of existence.

*This isn't new age thinking, it's simple truth. We use make believe money to do things, and assess value for work and such, based on market demands. That's literally make believe.

So get with the program and start recovering, instead of tearing things down.

LOL!

OK, that was a timing issue, but I think you realized that you just jumped the gun there?

:)

What you pointed out is a common thought, but it's only half the story. We aren't stuck in amber. We can, and will, change.

At least we have in every other major depression. This one seems to be in the same mold.

I genuinely apologize for that. I'll request the topic be pinned. I hope you're right about what you said because from where I sit, it's looking ugly.

Yes, it really does look bad. There is a literal part of economic downturns that cause Depression to set in, I think.

It's dark, scary and hard. Please don't think I'm claiming this is a cake walk.

I'm just saying that we'll climb out of it, because we have too. The world has to. We always have and it may be a simple part of what is coming.

I know that it;s easy to point the finger and blame others, which is why I'm doing it too. (Rich people!!!)

But I think we've gotten to about the halfway point here. From this point on, it should start looking up.

A big part of that though is telling people that it is doing better and working to make sure each of us does well too, so we can lead by example.

Now there's a 8th grade explanation of the root cause of this economic mess on if I ever heard one.
