Owners of the house that exploded were experiencing problems with their furnace and they believe that to be the cause of the problem.

Apparently the owners had moved into a hotel because of a fault with the furnace potentially allowing gas to reach catastrophic concentrations.

Yes, this needs to be the focus thread as it has ALL the info.

I have a friend from the gas company and fire department I am meeting with today at some point, also talked to many more folks today who lived so very close.

There is a chance we are meeting with the girl who was smoking a ciggarette in the neighborhood and saw something fall from the sky.

Keep you guys posted, please stay on it you guys! :) God Bless

Another thought that just won't stop bouncing around in my head....though I'm not certain how we'd even go about validating it.....Is the bird/bat pic an insignia of a Military Unit? Also.....we've heard that eyewitnesses claimed to have heard a "roaring sound" PRIOR to the explosion, someone stating it "sounded like an airplane about to crash". We've seen what COULD be debris from a small plane(Drone?) but we are missing a crater to lend credibility to a conventional missile strike. The blast effected everything in the House BUT what would be 2 of the 5 most logical sources of Natural Gas in the Home, the stove & water heater(missing are fireplace, central heating, gas clothes dryer). Did a plane/drone crash or was (without knowing where this lies in relation to aquifers & fault lines) another type of weapon involved to ignite a natural(as in coming from the ground) gas emission in a less populated area? Just a few thoughts after reading some of the many pages of thoughts/pics/info.

There would have been some kind of excess flow cut off valve somewhere between the meter/street and the furnace. It would not trigger whilst a gradual leak was occurring but likely only when the explosion occurred. Hence no leak would be detectable after that time. They never said there was no leak, only that they could not detect one.

Ok, if that was a problem, why wasn't the gas shut off & neighbors made aware?

My daughters neighbor has gas, she does not. Her home has a carbon monoxide reader, because her neighbor had a gas leak. All the surrounding neighbors were made aware, and installed readers. My point: If it was bad enough to make them rent a hotel room...this would have been known by neighbors. It's just common sense.

I get your point. I understand the article. To me, it's that ole easy thing, common sense. No one knew that the neighbors left because they feared gas problems from their furnace. If no one there new them, and no one was aware they moved temparaily to a hotel room....could explain how no one was aware of a potential gas problem...but, I'm not convinced.

This was brought to my attention...

A Local Marine and Firefighter "Shot" himself in the chest while arguing with brother in law police officer the night of the explosion at 8:55 PM

This was about 5 miles from the explosion...

Thought this was worth noting.

Re: EQ? Gas Explosion?? Something Just Shook Houses In Indianapolis!

credit for this goes to the Nika team.

WOW what an interesting thread I have found!! this was like reading a book. Very entertaining. Here's my 2 cents. THERE IS NO WAY THAT WAS A GAS EXPLOSION. I am 1/2 mile directly east. In the neighborhood just south of hospital. There is one tidbit of info that may be important. I know of people in the immediate area that saw multiple emergency response vehicles at the Mary Bryant Elem School literally 2 minutes after explosion. So many that there had to be foreknowledge of something. This comes from someone who was just casually repeating his story of the events. When that was mentioned I pointed out the possible flaw and then they realized what they had really seen. Maybe that's why there was such a quick response that they kept pointing out that night in interviews. People in this area WILL NOT LET THIS GO!!! THERE WILL BE QUESTIONS ANSWERED!! MY GOD THE INTENSITY AND CRISPNESS OF THE BOOM. I swore lightning had struck next door and blew the house up. That's how intense it was here a 1/2 mile away. I find it interesting that most of the other people who experienced it were East of the explosion. And WAY East. Just about everyone knows the "official not really a story" is BS. I'd imagine if the final outcome isn't acceptable there are going to be a lot of pissed off people around here. It's ALL just TOO FISHY!!!!

ok, are they computer tracking methane releases since synthia and other things are melting giant methane slabs? and strange foam rupturing from sinkholes and unknown fluid is coming off of the coast. the drone thing could really be an intentional blow of a methane bubble, and they didn't want it released because it would cause mass illness (rob the population of air instantly), so they blew it as it emerged from the ground and blamed it on a natural gas explosion. But as you can read, many people are still falling ill.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23456097

I feel there is some relation to methane for the northeast storm hit area as well. Thank you for the info.

been following since beginning of thread. this article brings several questions to mind. who was called to inspect the furnace and when? why was the gas not shut off to the residence? according to the utility co., no calls were made to them. I'm certain that arson investigators will be checking into these claims as well as personal finances of these people. were they behind on payments? was house for sale? it would be interesting to know what they took to motel with them.did they take personal records or keepsakes? I truly hope it wasn't a case of arson.

From New Article:
[link to www.theindychannel.com]

"John Shirley told RTV6 on Monday that he received a text message last week from his 12-year-old daughter about a problem with the furnace at the house the girl shares with her mother and her mother's boyfriend.

The girl said that the family was staying in a hotel because the furnace had stopped working. Shirley said no one was home at the time of the explosion."

Saturday Night, it was 70 degrees in Indianapolis. Who needs their furnace on when it was so warm out that most of my friends had their windows open.

Now then,
Where Does John work & what does he do?

Hi everyone. I am always here but rarely comment. I was in a fully packed chat room last night with 150 smart people trying to figure this out. KNOW: meth lab, gas, bomb all RULED OUT per police. No definitive answers but all seemed to feel more research on TELSA needed to be done. I am not an expert on that subject. Several people online from neighborhood all described feeling something strange but did not feel earthquake. There have been a dozen HEART ATTACKS at least since explosion.

Could be related to the shock of the situation but is interesting to say the least...

Bad furnace, neglect on the gas company and HVAC guys. Gas built up in that basement reached a spark and ignited. The concrete block basement walls acted like the barrel of a cannon and Ka-Boom!!! From the looks of it, must have been an ignition source from the 1st floor. That whole basement was full of gas, for your average, maybe about 15,000 cubic feet of Gas.

Anyone have an idea what force 15,000 cubic feet of methane would have if ignited?

Re: EQ? Gas Explosion?? Something Just Shook Houses In Indianapolis!
