We need to get someone here that can calculate what type of force would be required to blow those houses to shred. Like this force did. It shouldn't be that difficult to calculate. Take all images and debris field into account and calculate what type of forced would be required. Then match that force to different types of explosive materials.
 Quoting: El Quisqueyano

"What does it take to turn a 2,700-square-foot home into a bomb large enough to flatten two other houses, pummel dozens more, rattle dishes for miles and set off earthquake sensors 30 miles away? According explosives experts: 90 pounds of natural gas, a lack of ventilation and an ignition source.

City public safety officials, however, cautioned that their investigation into the blast that killed two people and damaged 80 homes, is incomplete and ongoing. While they say it appears gas may have caused the blast, other factors could be in play so they avoided giving a definitive cause."

note the comment from "nicole" following above article:

"I agree with those who say to be patient and not judge. I drive along I-70 West everyday, and just when I get to where Lucas Oil Stadium is on my right (near the Meridian exit? on the south side of the city) the smell of natural gas is overwhelming... and I'm going 55mph on the highway! I've called in the complaint to 911, but they say that despite multiple reports, its investigated and nothing is found. Its ridiculous... something is obviously leaking, either intentionally or they just don't want to address it."

I smell this downtown every time I go right in the same area this lady mentions. You can smell it right down by Lily and for a few blocks at least. Any other Indy folks notice this?

this was brought up in anothe thread:

" Saturday morning they interviewed a woman whose husband went door to door knocking on neighbors doors to help get people out. (There was stories of this on the live cast, but they weren't allowed to talk to cameras at that point) She told a story about how he found a girl bloody who was saying something about two other people in the house that needed help, however the fire was too bad to attempt the save for them. This makes no sense. The Greenwood teacher and her husband did not have a child. Thus saying.... There had to be more that 2 fatalities. "

i remembered watching that interview live on tv the next morning...so i did a search for it on youtube, and i found it:

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

like i mentioned in the other thread, the vide only has 40 views, and check out the really jacked up tags the poster used to describe it:

there's so much going on with this story, every time i think i've decided i know what happened, i turn over a new rock and it completely undoes what i thought i knew...

Re: EQ? Gas Explosion?? Something Just Shook Houses In Indianapolis!
It seems like some facts have been buried.

From what I've read:

EMS was activated five minutes prior to the explosion.

People heard strange whining noises in the sky and saw falling debris.

People 40 miles away felt/heard the explosion.

Reports of people at the site are mixed, with some people (the chaplain) having mixed stories; appearing randomly after having never shown up. (from radio transcripts).

DHS people talking about strange debris piles.

People put on buses and sent away.

Firefighter/ex-marine shot at point blank. (Unrelated?)

Several people also mentioned lack of gas lines in the area.

The story about the house for sale/cat/insurance fraud seems like a really convenient coverup. It will be easy to conduct a fake investigation and make it seem like the real deal. The size of the explosion doesn't coincide with the shockwave/distance.

The drone story sounds like it could be disinformation too. Is there a crater or anything to indicate a drone crash/missile impact? Comparison to other drone strikes?

Anything else I'm missing?

"John Shirley said his access to them is limited because his ex-wife has a protective order against him and has full custody of his daughter.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance at the Shirley home in February 2011, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report.

John Shirley moved out of the house in February 2011, he said.

Prior to the divorce, the Shirley family faced financial stress. In 2007, the Shirleys filed jointly for Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Court records show they had liabilities of nearly $410,000 and assets of about $316,000.

Among their liabilities were two mortgages on the Fieldfare Way house, on which they owed a total of $225,794. The house’s value was listed as $230,000, according to court records.

The bankruptcy case was dismissed in June.

The house was listed for sale at $149,900 in late 2011 as a possible short sale, but it was pulled off the market in March at the request of the owner, according to real estate listings. The house had a gas furnace and a wood burning fireplace with gas starter, according to descriptions."

This is starting to smell like an insurance job that ended up being a lot bigger than they had planned.

Apparently the owners had moved into a hotel because of a fault with the furnace potentially allowing gas to reach catastrophic concentrations.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11326620

Ok, if that was a problem, why wasn't the gas shut off & neighbors made aware?

My daughters neighbor has gas, she does not. Her home has a carbon monoxide reader, because her neighbor had a gas leak. All the surrounding neighbors were made aware, and installed readers. My point: If it was bad enough to make them rent a hotel room...this would have been known by neighbors. It's just common sense.
 Quoting: Seagal5

Just FYI (in the interests of safety) a carbon monoxide reader is of no use in a gas leak.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11326620

been following since beginning of thread. this article brings several questions to mind. who was called to inspect the furnace and when? why was the gas not shut off to the residence? according to the utility co., no calls were made to them. I'm certain that arson investigators will be checking into these claims as well as personal finances of these people. were they behind on payments? was house for sale? it would be interesting to know what they took to motel with them.did they take personal records or keepsakes? I truly hope it wasn't a case of arson.

There's more inconsistencies then anyone is bringing up. One, that the father was texted about the furnace, but the mother had no idea of any trouble with the furnace. Also, the boyfriend is a known con man with a list full of women accusing him of "taking them to the casino, and asking them for money".. talks of him using the owner of the house for money. Why would the father be so quick to lie about a furnace? Is he the real benefactor of the insurance money? Who's name is the house in? That's the more important question. I see two motives, possibly three if the somehow the boyfriend persuaded the wife into some insurance fraud, remember he has a criminal record and is known as a con.

all of that makes for an interesting story, but that does not explain the MASSIVE amount of damage. the interesting characters may have been picked out because of their drama. if is was for ins, the father went way way way overboard, I don't think it was possible for him to do without military type explosives.

watching the full interview with the lady that lives in the house

- she says her bf changed the thermostat bc the heat wasn't working

- she says they've boarded the cat for the last 3 weekends bc they go to the casino a lot

- she says her daughter mentioned smelling gas in the laundry room but she thought it was a different smell

- she says her daughter also said when she comes home from school and opens the garage she has smelled it

- she ALSO says that when the neighbor called them at the casino on sat night to tell them what happened, the neighbor told her a PLANE had hit her house and the house was on fire and nothing left

[link to www.wthr.com]

and the bf doesn't seem to be around - are they holding him?

ETA:

watching part 2 now and what stands out is that she keeps sniffling and sounding like she's crying but she doesn't have any tissues, hasn't wiped her nose or dabbed her eyes once. when they go in for close ups there's no tears. i have to say, the circumstantial evidence against these folks seems to be piling up. you couldn't really script it any better if you tried.

The whole drone thing could be plausible but you wouldn't think it would be necessary for a drone to carry any kind of warheads within the continental United States. How many times in your life has a plane bombed a target in the USA?

I was thinking the same. These can be launched and or dropped from very high altitudes. You would never know it's coming. They use them to eliminate cartel leaders and Al-Qaeda leaders. These bombs detonate before they hit the ground, so as to not leave craters. So the governments of those countries have a hard time figuring out what happened. Like we have here.

Take heed women. This is what happens when you choose to place your trust in the wrong men with a history of using women. I have personal knowledge of some shady, illegal and insurance fraud activities her bf and his friends are involved in. I would also lay money down that there was a harley in the garage of that house that was likely in another womans name and probably reported as stolen. They are predators that live off of women. I believe at least one of these men could be linked to another house fire involving a gas leak and thermostat. This was an insurance fraud case that went way wrong. While I believe her to have some knowledge in the matter I can't help but feel sorry for her. She was a pawn and now her life is ruined but she isn't dead like her neighbors. I hope they finally get to the bottom of this and put these men away!
