The easiest way to explain the situation, as I understand it, is that some "human beings" are born upon this planet with no souls, as emissaries of the loosh farmers. Why not death? Anyone who would do something like that to an animal is going to get around to doing it to people sooner or later. Best thing is to put em down and save society the grief they would bring later.
