Myself, I'll take a minute at 11 to remember those that lost their lives in WWII. A nod of acknowledgement is all that is required when you greet a vet today.

But if someone is dressed to where it is obvious they are a veteran, like a cap that has 'retired Navy' on it, I will often thank them for their service if we are engaged in conversation for whatever reason.
