What's funny is for people who don't live in California nor who know the population who lives here....There are more non-Democrats here than in any other state, except probably for Texas. Remember, we have 40 million people here. So even if 60% or 65% are Democrats, the remainder are more than the numbers of Republicans in every other state, except, probably, for Texas.

Also, a California Republican is different than, say, a Tennessee Republican. Like night and day. Californian Republicans are fiscal conservatives and social libertarians. They also value the natural world (because we have quite a beautiful natural world here to preserve); whereas in say, Oklahoma, they might not feel as strongly about preserving forests, wildlife habitat (except to hunt lol), etc.

For instance, I support State and National Parks. Some "conservatives" might not. I do, because I understand that without the preservation of some of these places so that anyone and everyone can visit, experience, utilize the beautiful lands, they could be snatched up by, say, Ted Turner or whomever, and none of us would ever have the opportunity to see and experience these unique places. Some of us would rather visit the Grand Canyon than Disney World.
