To date I have paid nearly $189,000.00 in income tax.

That is over a 35 year period....
My response to people who want to know the solution is (my opinion only)...
When were you at your last city hall or town meeting? It really starts at the ground floor.
Where I live is very small town...I hate going to these meetings...but either I am part of the problem or part of the solution.
It is frustrating when leaders become large fish in small ponds. Ego gets in the way...so I stay clear...and they are left to make all the decisions and vote into law what "they " choose.
There needs to be better checks and balances. There are many that suck off the system and it is NOT just the poor. Corruption runs deep and in every aspect of our community.
Disclosure in every branch of government should be expected by the American people...but it is easier to walk away and toss out the old phase "Well what can you do about it?" It's starts with pointing the finger at ones self to start change.

Leadership would be another great place to start....but sadly they are more interested in looking at how to stay in office than serving the people.

This year, one third of my check has gone for Federal Income Tax, State Tax, Medicare, Social Security, and Health Insurance coverage at work.

Great thread OP. I'm 33, have lived in Canada my whole life. I have never been on any kind of social assistance and hope I never am. I run a small construction business and its all I can do to keep it going. Taxes are basically killing me. I take a small wage every month, about $4000 and I pay close to $2200 income tax every single month. I live comfortably but frugally no fancy vacations, rarely eat out. Its almost impossible to get ahead when the system is stacked against you. Hope things get better for you.

REVENGE is what the current administration wants. REVENGE against the working class.

He plans to take the money away from those working and give it to the democrat voting class non working welfare recipents.

You have 2 options.
1. Become a leach and get on the government check.

Not to mention you paid tax on the amounts deducted for SS, MC/MC. The only deduction is for federal tax on income & state tax on income.

This year, start deducting the Social Security, MediCaid, MediCare, State taxes & Federal taxes taken out of our earning. Let's see what happens?

Yup. Here is what you and everyone else need to understand. You have a choice. If you want to live in a modern industrialized society, the dues are about 30-40% of your wages. It is the same all over the world.

Don't like paying that much for fire, police, roads and national defense? Leave for a third world entity. You will have to provide all utilities and infrastructure yourself. You will have almost little or no opportunity to earn a fraction of what you do now.

Like it or not, that is the world we live in for being born at this point.

I wonder how many people will not file this year. People are just not going for it. Thy are dropping out of the system and are bartering, working off the books, going out on disability, lying on their taxes or just plain not filing. I would love to see an honest graph of participation in our income tax scam.

I get a bonus every year for the past 7 years of 21k. I'm in IT at a major CIB. Of that 21K I only get about 12k after taxes. I FUCKING KILLS me to see these bumb ass mother fuckers getting druck on my dime while I'm walking down 7th ave every morning. Thats not even including me getting double taxed because I live in NJ and work in NYC.
