Walmart Workers to Strike on Black Friday

Depends how many people they fire. British Airways tried to fire about 700 people in 2005 for going on strike, and ended up having to reinstate most of them because they couldn't replace that many people at one time.

I agree. That black friday stuff and all the madness that goes with it kinda ruins the spirit of the season and tarnishes Thanksgiving. Years ago everything was closed on holidays and most stores always closed on Sundays. When did all that change? I can't remember.

Can you imagine the $$$ Walmart will lose if they can't have their annual post thanksgiving bloodbath?

you are talking about the old united states, in this new progressive one, most don't even know what thanksgiving is and would prefer to celebrate mayday or cinco de mayo. this isn't your grandpa's america anymore... who's happy now?

I would love to see Walmart boycotted by everyone and go out of business. They have killed more small family-owned business around the country than any other. Those are the businesses we need more of, and more Americans need to support them and stop buying Chinese products when American products are available.

Save the little bit money you have for shopping and spend it locally in businesses owned by people who live in your community on Small Business Saturday instead!

If you don't like the wages and benefits that your employer provides, then quit and get a new job or start your own business.

The employees that are falling for this are idiots. They won't get more money, but they will have to send the union bosses a big chunk of their paycheck each month. Can't have the millionaires who run unions suffering in these hard economic times, can we?

They won't shut down any stores. Like another poster mentioned they could fire every last one of the employees that strikes and have people ready and happy to fill those positions.

What's disgusting to me about black friday is not only how they slowly move their opening times earlier and earlier so their employees have no chance to spend a holiday with their family. Its also the fact that people act like idiots in the stores. Last year people were shot over merchandise during black friday. We go out the day after acting thankful for what we have to get more crap.

Has to be cheaper than agreeing to full time employment for all of their stores. This will force them to provide health insurance or pay fine in 2013.

Can't see them striking for less than full time hours and health insurance. Even though the video only mentioned being treated with respect as main issue.

O stands for OUR and the three fingers stands for a W which stands for WALMART, hence the name of the group is "Our Walmart". This is straight out of the Communist Manifesto. The Proletariat rise up against the Bourgeois using Unions and riots, thus creating a platform to speak about and bring reforms into the private property system and the credit system.

Also, in the video it seems like most of the people have trouble with management. If you wanted to communicate with another employee without being retaliated against by management you could use sign language. Maybe they use the "okay" sign to indicate how they will spread the word to other employees non-verbally.

Lastly, the O could stand for Obama who is a Union supporter.

Either way, this is big and it will spread.

I like the new America much better. The old one was really lame. I would never work at Wal Mart however, life is much too short for that crap.

Most WM employees are full time and do get insurance. These folks are just stupid. If they are not full time, its because they either didnt want it, or just arent good employees. If they strike they will get fired. Some WM employees make some pretty good bank I know a deli worker who makes over 20 dollars an hr. They have jobs they should be thankful.

Walmart is going to freak out over this, watch their profits start falling soon like Mcdonalds.

Do all of your shopping on Small Business Saturday instead.

Just make sure it is Americans who own the small business you shop at.

Target has obviously infiltrated the Walmart "union" and are destroying Walmart from within.

Its best to do that year round, but its not a bad idea at all to do it on Small Business Saturday as well.
