If it was a meth lab it was the biggest one. EVER.

I've seen meth labs knock down houses where I used to work as a first responder.

And I've NEVER seen destruction even remotely close to that.

Is being reported in other posts on this subject that people heard a loud roaring sound and a bright flash of light just BEFORE the explosion. Am going with some type of EM induced explosion. Sorry, don't trust anything coming from the major news outlets, local or national.

Looks like a natural gas line explosion

I live on the southside of Indianapolis, about 3 1/2 miles away from Stop 11 and Sherman where this happened. I was watching TV at the time it occured, and i heard an extremely loud explosion that shook my house and pushed opened up my unlocked back door about two inches then slammed it shut again. all the dogs in the neighborhood went nuts. My initial thought was that a bomb or meth lab had exploded or a plane had crashed. People I know around town immediately started asking eachother on facebook if anyone knew what hap happened. people up to 4 or 5 miles away either heard the blast or experienced the shaking... although people in Shelbyville (a 20 min drive) and downtown (a 20 min drive) who claim to have heard it also. a friend that lives about a mile away had her house windows blown out at the same time as the explosion happened. Incidents of windows in homes and cars blowing out were reported up to two miles away. (What kind of gas leak explosion causes a ripple effect like that?) Another friend could actually see the fires from her back yard, she lives at Stop 11 and Bluff Road. Immediately after the explosion her facebook status was - "Plane crash right by my neighbor hood. Can see the flames from here!!! :(. My heart goes out to the many families that are affected by this!" She doesnt report seeing a plane but that was the conclusion the neighborhood speculators came to, and one neighbor reported hearing a high velocity sound "like at the racetrack" a split second before the explosion. They also reported blue flame throughout the fire, could a gas leak cause that?

Around town the general feeling is that something really weird happened, a really tragic freak accident, and while we don't have the whole story, we probably will after the investigation...

I tried to drive by the crash site today, and you can't even get near it. cops everywhere in every direction keeping people away from the whole neighborhood.

My personal feeling is that something is really, really messed up about this whole thing. it just doesn't sit right with me, and I'm trying to get all the info I can.

I heard it was fart gas trapped in a condom from poofters igniting from the electrical contacts on an electronic vibrating butt plug.

jesus people. it's obvious. it was a stash of high explosives that cooked off. some bogus home brew that went ultra sensitive. idiots didn't neutralize the free acids. 150 lbs or so by the damage. the house was blown to match sticks, so it couldn't have been fuel-air. it was highly brissant stuff. acetone peroxide, or one of the chlorate mixes are most likely. neither need "red flag" chemicals. some imbecile with a hankering for civil war blew himself (hopefully) up

2) Finance Facility just north of blast
3) All Soldiers Pay, plus other transactions go through Indy Finance Facility
4) Happened on Veterans Day just after 11pm
5) A few Folk in area thought it was small plane due to swooshing sound pre-explosion(pre-impact?)
6) Officials stated "Was not Plane" several times in response to "plane stories" from neighborhood.
7) Ruled out Gas, and Meth Locally
8) Massive Checkpoints in area set up now. (ID cards for folk who live in adjacent neighborhoods - told must stay in house, neighborhood of incident no one allowed in, even residents) -
9) Businesses shut down in area by Police
10) Police and FBI known to be in area. (ID Checkpoints)

Seriously tho...still NO finally word.

Keep in mind A block blew up in SA a ways back. Took a week to find out a meteorite hit a house. AND it looked like a lot less damage then this one.
So its not impossible.

The only semi offical thing I have heard was they were thinking Natural Gas after the EQ that hit the region.

HUH?!?!

I live right around the corner. The only checkpoint is at the entrance to the neighborhood. Businesses are not shut down. Haven't seen any FBI. I have seen DHS and ATF. STILL there. As of today. DHS's black tac van is not too far inside entrance.

Please don't demean a sensational event by making stuff up.
