Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6750590 He wanted a Glock 17 and it took them several weeks to get it for him instead of the 10 days. Nothing to do with supply this was purchased before the election. Supply wise shops are running out fast of the more "Tactical" firearms. This is true. The distributors are running low, and their prices are rising. Slowly rising, but the up-trend is noticeable. The people that have the ability to import/deal-directly are doing very well. They aren't stuck going through a distributor, and thus have a more stable supply chain. |

Quoting: TDJ I have no criminal record or anything in my past that would stop me from buying another gun. has this happened to anyone else lately? THIS Immediate surge in sales of guns and ammo. Obama has promised to try to destroy the Second Amendment and deny Americans the liberty to own firearms. With his re-election, expect to see a massive surge in gun sales as more people attempt to stock up in anticipation of gun bans (or government gun confiscation). |

NCIC (National Crime Information Center) Law Enforcement use it every day. No. The serial traces back to the FFL in which the weapon was shipped to from the company/distributor. Then they check the FFL for the transfer, and find who it was transferred to. That's on file at the FFL ONLY. Now if the weapon is sold by the original transferee or is stolen it has effectively disappeared from the normal chain of custody. If the weapon is pawned or sold/traded to another FFL then it will pop back up, but if it stays in the realm of private transfers then it's not tracked. |

I was told by the dealer that 90% of the people that this happens to are Vets. That pisses me off, I'm not a Vet but those guys and gals know how to handle a firearm. And that's why they've reached the top of the "potential terrorist" list. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 16703657 11/11/2012 11:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP here is the real answer to your question. Most people get an automatic flag after their fifth firearm or so. Doesn't matter what kind it is. It's not because of your Facebook posts or viewership here. It's just how the system works. Normally these holds are no longer than 5 days and it is just designed to give the ATF fuckers a chance to review your file. I got my hold on a little tiny 22 magnum pocket gun of all things and was the final straw that convinced me to get a CCW. This requires an extensive background check and fingerprint but at least prevents any future "mommy can I please have a gun" requests. Quoting: _____tard If you are the tin foil hat kind of guy you can always purchase used guns via person to person sales which in most free states do not require any paperwork. Don't stress out too much, it's just how the system works. That's because everybody know that terrorists always start in with their terrorism after they purchase their 5th weapon. |

They might just have to retro-fit the gun with the proper tracking, gps, and RFDI Tags/equipment. Shhhhh...that last parts secret! Quoting: TOMMY B I wasn't pissed when I tried to buy it but I am now!!! LOL :furry shooter: Don't worry. If you never committed a felony or have a mental record it will pass. Just wait a bit. They'll have to give you a legitimate reason to refuse you on background check, otherwise they will be violating your 2nd Amendment Rights, at which point I'd find a lawyer. Huh? Are you kidding? You don't need a felony or mental record to be denied. All you need is a MISDEMEANOR "domestic" charge of any kind, including "harassment", or assault, battery, etc... Hell, I've even known one guy who was denied because of a loud argument he was involved in with his girlfriend, in which the police were called, and the only charge against him was "disturbing the peace. But since the call was based upon a "domestic" situation, he lost his gun rights forever. |

| EVIL_BEAN_KID User ID: 27867351 11/16/2012 09:54 AM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just bought a Remington 700 a couple days ago. No approval problems. Of course, the guy didn't ask my name and I didn't ask his. He asked me if there was any reason he couldn't sell me the gun. I said no. I asked if it was stolen, he said no. I handed him the money. He handed me the gun. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4420825 Of course, there are only 33 states you can do that in. 17 require background checks. Establish residency in a good state. Buy guns all you want. The fallacy of "they are going to come and get your guns" just makes me laugh! How are they going to find them? In my state they won't know because, while I have over 50 guns, there are only about 5 of them that I have had to hand over my "Paperz Pleez..." except for the fact that you just told them that you have 50+ firearms and when/if they come knocking they are gonna laugh at your 5 handover guns and take all your guns and arrest you away to fema camp for reconditioning. THERES NO PREPS I CAN'T FIND |
