Re: A serious Bible question
I've heard the King James Bible is the ONLY true Bible. There are so many 'new' versions which are apparently innacurate and some say, of the Devil.
I am NOT a Christian but I do enjoy reading the Bible (I read a lot!) and am mostly concerned with historical accuracy.

If you're a Bible 'expert', Christian or otherwise I would appreciate your views and any additional information on this subject.
Thanks :-)

Re: A serious Bible question
The King James is well received because it works with the Concordance which helps readers in understanding the bible. It is not the only bible that people believe works for them.

Re: A serious Bible question
The 1611KJV is said (by their preface) to be translated from the 'original Greek' and the 'original Hebrew' and that translation came with a copy-write. Any other English Bible that wanted it's own copy-write had to alter the text to a certain extent. Not the best move when understanding 'it' requires paying attention to where the breaks are in any given line or the original meaning (and connections to other passages)is lost, or at least headed that way. If you can read the preface and understand everything mentioned then a few 'ye' and 'thou' is not going to throw you off the meaning.
However a change from 'all flesh' to 'all mankind' is a big change if God intended to tell us even sparrows are included in salvation, based on the verse that says fish, fowl, and animal are included as being called 'flesh'.

Read Zechariah 3 in Hebrew and you will see that it ACCURATELY describes the bomb on hiroshima in detail.

It's true the King James Bible is the best version to read. Many of the other versions have deleted a lot of verses that change the entire meaning of the whole chapter and book. Stick with the King James, it's by far the best version historically and prophetically.

You do realize that Tolkien and Stephen King are hard core Christians?

Who cares about the hack Dan Brown.
