That's pretty poor for a machinist. It should be closer to 20, or higher for a journeyman.
The problem we have here in Canada today is pakies they bring in from India to do the job for $5 an hour. They've forced all kinds of shops to close and are in the process of turning the profesion into a Burger King job.
