5 Year Old Nephew with Anger Problem Needs Nutritional help | |
Shakes User ID: 4739160 United States 11/11/2012 11:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My sister's grandson has been fed pretty much nothing but chicken fingers for the last 4 years. Kid wont eat any vegetables, never has I guess, because his parents figure it's easier to just give him what he will eat, which is junk. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25360022 So this little guy has major behavoral problems and parents want to take him to shrink. I'm pretty sure it might have something to do with his diet. Does anyone have any feedback, maybe a link I could send my sister (the Grandmother)connecting his behavior to the poor diet? There is tons of info out there on this. However maybe a MSM link will be useful. There are tons of studies that link food additives and coloring to behavior issues. Europe has actually been very smart and limited this stuff. I have witnessed it first hand with my kids. Give them something with dyes or BHT and you can see them change within 20 min so. Her is a link to get you started: [link to www.cnn.com] |

Hellena Handbasket User ID: 1439176 United States 11/12/2012 12:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | True story; I knew this little boy who would only eat hot dogs. Not even the bun.. only cold or boiled hot dogs. His mom was going crazy because her kid was a tyrant and he'd tamtrum and scream if she tried to feed him anything else. They lived in a cheap apt. and she was afraid that somebody would call CPS and report her because the kid would scream so much. The dad was in jail. She was living on edge because of the kid's angry & physically abusive behavior and so she kept him out of school alot - he hit and bit. The boy watched tv all day or played Nintendo games. By eleven year old, he was too big to handle and he struck his mom, knocking her out cold. Five years later he was in juvenile hall for drugs, alcohol, lying to police and assault charges. I don't know how he is doing today but I'm pretty sure he's not a vegan pacifist. Tell that story. Handling a major fuss-attack at 5 years old is better than when they weigh more than you do. |

abeliever Members User ID: 17868616 United States 11/12/2012 12:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes. I know similar story. Child would only eat cheese. Drove the parents absolutely nuts. Temper tantrums. Parents gave up trying to give him good food. Just gave him what he wanted. He's in high school now and has been arrested twice. Has constant problems with boundary issues. For instance, takes the parents credit cards, takes cash, does whatever he wants. Parents try to punish him, it doesn't work. It's a nightmare for the parents. Tell your sister to absolutely let that child know who is the adult and who is the child. Talk to a child psychologist. They will tell her that the kids really want boundaries. Letting them have what they want is not loving them. No boundaries = wild kid turns into wild adult. Nip it in the bud now. |

Send them to a Farm where they lean to be humble and thankful for each Day, let them do Garden Work because they need to re-establish a deep Connection to the Ground, they need to worship Soil, Mother Earth! We tried almost everything and did not want to medicate our child. Problem went away when we stopped buying food that has flavor enhancers (E621, E622 Monopotassium Glutamate etc.) Our child is now an A class student and active/social person that loves sports, arts etc. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1193674 United States 11/12/2012 01:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My advice? Stay out of it. Don't get involved in other peoples problems. If they ask for your help, give it, but otherwise, don't do it. Stand back and observe, be peaceful and helpful, but don't interpose your own ideas into a situation that doesn't ask you to be a part of it. Your sisters grandson... Do you even see this kid at the family reunions? If so, you can skip if he's too bad to be around, but otherwise... Don't ask for trouble. For every "bad kid" that has trouble when they are five, there are dozens that outgrow them. Bad diet is the cause? Maybe. Or possibly he's simply high strung, or resistant to being pushed around? The point is, unless you live with him and have the ability to understand and empathize with others, you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Beating the kid into submission (the popular choice on GLP!) only works on certain people. On others it's the kind of thing that causes the problems in the first place. each child has to be handled responsibly, and by the people that know them best. In the end, it isn't your job and trying to do it will only lead to grief for yourself and others. |

Not all are the same neither should they be. Friend's boy was the same way. Used to scream when passing fast food restaurants like McDs. They probably get addicted to the MSG. |
