Had them recently, the cider didn't work well, wish I knew about this then. My bananas stay on the porch now. That mess got cleaned up but now the flies are everywhere and just trying to get rid of them fast. I am trying hard to keep every surface/floor/ etc extremely clean. That should help but it is really annoying that when I am trying to serve a meal or sip a drink there is another fly swarming my food or trying to get into my drink. Pathetic! |

Quoting: weasel keeper Great idea. Problem is they are inside my house, not outside. I wouldn't want those praying mantis's inside my house. Hmmm, I wonder if it will work being that it is 30 degree outside and winter. Today is snowed here in Washington. |

Quoting: 0nlyM3&U Damn ... I hate when that happens... No-Pest Strips work great! Unfortunately, I think they are toxic so I only use them in an emergency. I have a small covered composting bin in the kitchen to sequester kitchen scraps. That helps too. For nothing is secret that will not be revealed… :blue-faeries: |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 20675367 11/12/2012 02:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I take a bowl and pour in some wine(it attracts them) and add a few pieces of fruit (apples, peaches, etc.) I then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and poke a few holes in the plastic. The flies are able to enter through the wholes but they can not leave. Using this method it takes a few days to clear out the fruit flies and you will have to replace the wine, fruit and plastic wrap (depending upon how many flies you have) but it's simple trap and it works |
