Direct lineage, I have all of his documents and his journal in my closet next to me.

This is depending on how much Money i want to spend
for a deep Research,
it is logical that the cheap ones just want to satisfy your desire
but if they are right is only the second Question!

I believe my aunt researched and said we have a small relation to Washington as well, on my mom's side at least. Dad's parents were immigrants to the United States, I don't know if I'm related to anyone well known on that side. Unfortunately that's about all I know right now, I would love to research and learn more.

This part of the bloodline also supposedly goes back to Roman/Carolingian Emperors Charlemagne and Constantine.

Also General Robert E. Lee on that side as well.

Don't know as much about my Paternal Side except that two brothers, one of which was my great great great grandfather was instrumental in the Texas Revolution...

I'm adopted as well. I do know my birth family's names but haven't looked into it at all. You still may be able to file paperwork to find out if your adoptive parents didn't know any of it. My Dad made a point to keep all of the records for me so he could pass them on if I was ever interested in them.

Then you have quite the interesting lineage.

You can also do a at home dna test that will give you all info on which group of tribes/ people you are related to.. you wont get names but you will learn lots about your genetics.

I wouldn't wish too much on her. Its possible that its painful to think about it for some reason. Perhaps she doesn't even really know and only remembers bits and pieces. I'm not excusing what she's doing, just trying to see her side.

A long long time ago when I thought I'd start to seek out my birth family I went to adoption.com's forums. They were very helpful and they may be able to suggest some avenues for you to explore to find your father. I wish you luck I do understand a bit of what you're going through and hope you're able to find peace.

Loved his char in Braveheart, so I delved deeply into his history myself. I felt some sort of connection with the character, and sometimes felt the movie was about him as opposed to William Wallace... Years before discovering I had a shared lineage.
