"Meanwhile, a man who skateboarded alongside a Remembrance Sunday parade wearing a pink outfit and horned mask has been charged under the Public Order Act, police said."

It's worth mentioning that the image was posted with the words "what do you think about this you squaddy cunts"

Obviously he's exactly the type of fine upstanding citizen whose rights we should be protecting. Not.

I guess his little stunt backfired. No sympathy whatsoever.

its not about sympathy

its about the truth

carrying a rifle and a piece of paper to say you have permission to lawfully kill people is murder

plain and simple

that's the truth.

Yeah the truth is he was a hateful little shit who deserves everything that's coming to him.

So you think all those people who gave their lives defending us against the third Reich are murderers?

Interesting perspective you have there.

"'It's now very common to hear people say, "I'm rather offended by that", as if that gives them certain rights. It's no more than a whine. It has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. "I'm offended by that." Well, so fucking what?'" —Stephen Fry

Good. And it's not "just burning a poppy" either. He was probably a muslim.

And for those banging on about civil liberties, try looking up what free speech actually means. People also have the right no to be offended by some disrespectful jerk pulling a stunt like this.

read 1984 by george orwell
or its intended title, 1948

in case you haven't read it, the main character is called Winston (sound familiar?)

and Winstons job is to try to make the truth disappear and write a more 'useful' truth

This is the answer of user alexisj9
Thread: A man from Kent has been arrested for posting an image of a burning poppy on a social network site

No it was remembrance day yesterday, the Poppy is a symbol warn by most people here in England on that day for those that were killed in world war one and all those since. The burning poppy would have upset most of the older population, those in the military now and their families. Also any younger generation who cares about the past and those lives in danger now abroad.
 Quoting: smilesun

Again, I'm with that guy

I really don't understand what the crime is in this story

Poor taste, perhaps...but was it ever a crime in the UK to burn a poppy?

Is it a crime to burn a poppy in the UK 365 days a year, or only on Remembrance day...?

If it is a crime to burn poppies on Remembrance day, can somebody please post me a link?

Even if it is a crime to burn a poppy, is it as a serious a crime to post a digital image of a burning poppy?

I'm extremely interested in this story, because to me over here it sounds a little nutty

I don't agree with insulting veterans...but then again I think its poor taste to insult any group of people on a facebook page

But should people be arrested for being insensitive insulting cads? In that were case, wouldn't the prisons already be filled to overflowing?

TIA!

Fucking A.

This story is the most outrageous thing I've heard in a long time, arrested for fucking what?

Because some people were offended?

In the immortal words of Stephen Fry "SO FUCKING WHAT?"

I find this whole story offensive, does that change even a single thing?
Does it stop the Earth rotating does it make the sun go out?

Being offended is a subjective thing, it's your problem, it affects nothing in the world.

Yes it was a dickhead thing to do, so FUCKING WHAT?
Being a douche is a crime now is it?

Forget about the symbolism of the poppy for 5 seconds, get over you programmed "patriotism" and understand this... a man was arrested for posting a picture of a flower on the internet.

Fuck, we are in deep shit if people think this is ok.

Re: A man from Kent has been arrested for posting an image of a burning poppy on a social network site
In the "Related Threads" box at the bottom of this page there are several recent threads indicating a connection between 'disrespecting' the poppy symbol and muslims. I couldn't find anywhere in the skynet linked article what the name of the offender was, or if he was muslim, but I wonder if there is more to this than a simple facebook post.

I have read that there is tension between the muslim communities in England and some of the native-born English people who feel their culture is threatened. If I had to live near someone who was culturally very different, I could tolerate it, but if they actively provoked me by doing something like, say, stepping on my country's flag, it would be GAME ON. So maybe something like that is going on here.

The article also said there was an offensive comment that went along with the photo. Intent does matter - for instance I can yell "Let's GO!", to my three kids at the park that's fine, but if I'm in a tense situation near a gang fight and I yell "Let's GO!", I could be found guilty of inciting a riot.

Fair enough.
I don't condone war, but to burn a poppy and not show respect to the millions that were sacrificied during WWII is horrendous.
 Quoting: Sparrow and Medicine

No it is not. The fact is, these where retards, that went to war blindly for the banking system.

The poppy is not just for wwII, it is for ever war that the British services have ever fought

I will put no blood stained poppy on my chest, in support of retarded murders.

And your a cunting coward spewing bile from the safety of your keyboard - I lost both my grandfathers in WW 2 - my dads dad was killed in Burma and my mams dad was killed in 1944 during the Ardenne offensive ( battle of the bulge )

They sacrificed themselves so 70 years later fuckwits like you can come on here and write your bile because we live in a relatively free society - they were not retarded murderers - they were just honest hard working men who gave thier lives in the fight against evil - probably they died scared shitless , maybe they went out all guns blazing - I dont know , but they fought and died .

What the fuck have you uever done ? eh cunt ?
