This is an artifact of Pixelation.

Due to its lighter color it could be starlight from a bright star or perhaps a planets light forming a typical 'star' shape, but due to the pixelation is looks like a cross.

Watch the rest of the film showing the sky, lots of boxes/squares - are we to assume that Mars is actually mine craft?
