possible isaiah 17 and psalm 83 happening at the same time....i posted this almost 2 years ago.

Isaiah 17 Intro

“The burden against Damascus
“ Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city,
And it will be a ruinous heap.” Isaiah 17:1

Damascus, Syria is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on Earth. First settled around 6000 years ago, Damascus has remained relatively unscathed from natural disasters, fires, and wars. It would seem that Isaiah’s prophecy has yet to find fulfillment. However, as we see today’s headlines unfold, it is not hard to envision a scenario where Damascus might lie in ruins soon.

Perhaps Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad, will launch a rocket/missile offensive against Israel in a last ditch effort to save his regime. If any of these weapons Syria launches are tipped with chemical/biological warheads, surely Israel would respond militarily.

Also of note is the terrorist organization Hezbollah. Formerly Hezbollah had it’s headquarters in Damascus and it still has close ties to the current Syrian government. According to both the U.S. and Israel, huge quantities of weapons have lately made there way out of Syria to Lebanon and are in the control of Hezbollah. As we have seen over the the years, Hezbollah is not shy about launching an offensive of rockets/missiles/mortars at Israel. Israel has already stated that if one of these are laden with biological/chemical weapons, it would hold Damascus directly responsible.

Psalm 83 Intro

“A Song. A Psalm of Asaph.
Do not keep silent, O God!
Do not hold Your peace,
And do not be still, O God!
For behold, Your enemies make a tumult;
And those who hate You have lifted up their head.
They have taken crafty counsel against Your people,
And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.
They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”
For they have consulted together with one consent;
They form a confederacy against You:
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites;
Moab and the Hagrites;
Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek;
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Assyria also has joined with them;
They have helped the children of Lot. Selah” Psalm 83:1-8

The Psalmist Aspah wrote that in the latter years there would arise a confederate of peoples/nations that would consult and counsel together and try to wipe Israel of the map. The confederacy listed in Psalm 83 appears to be directly around current day Israel and are some the most dogmatic haters of the Jewish nation on Earth.

The present day names of the peoples/nations are:

tents of Edom—Palestinians and Southern Jordanians
Ishmaelites—Saudis
Moab—Palestinians and Central Jordanians
Hagrites—Egyptians
Gebal—Hezbollah and Northern Lebanese
Ammon—Palestinians and Northern Jordanians
Amalek—Arabs of the Sinai
Philistia—Hamas of the Gaza Strip
Tyre—Hezbollah and Southern Lebanese
Assyria—Syria and Northern Iraqis

From the current rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and Jordan to the civil war brewing in Syria, the landscape of the Middle-East is reshaping right before our eyes.

Will a new skirmish between Israel and Hamas or Hezbollah be the spark the ignites the Psalm 83 war? Will President Assad of Syria, in a last ditch effort to save his regime, launch a campaign against Israel which drags in the surrounding nations? Will the advancement of a Palestinian State at the U.N. lead to a new “Intifada”?
