An extended drought between A.D. 1020 and 1100 that likely corresponded with crop failures, death, famine, migration and, ultimately, the collapse of the Maya population. [ link to news.ucdavis.edu] Let's not forget the spaniards. spaniards took out what was left (mostly disease). but when they got here there were vast cities left abandoned and the mayans who remained lived in small groups away from the cities. SHHHH...The white man loves to take credit for destroying things.
