I am married to one of these working stiffs and he is in agreement that it is a job. When we went out to eat before taking him back to the airport a year or so ago, we had dinner bought for us, lots of handshakes, hat tipping, etc. His response to them was "Thank you" but to me he said "do they even know what they're so appreciative of?"
