My Son has been at Army boot camp at Fort Benning, Georgia, for 9 weeks already. Miss him terribly.

Not much chance for advancement either, unless you are a minority or a female. That's who runs most of the show. The ranks are very racist about advancement and overall job detail. That was 20 years ago.

I went to IDF bootcamp 33 years ago. (and yes somebody played me Universal Soldier by Buffy Ste. Marie before I went) We trained the Shiites who later switched sides and brought their training to the Hizb'Allah.

My Son graduated from Ft Sill last year - now he's in Ft Polk Louisiana ---- tell you the truth, I didn't think he would make it!
I figure if he can survive Ft Sill and Ft polk's summers - well, he can survive almost anywhere.
