WTF is going on with that Circle of Earthquakes around the OR, ID, NV Border?????

Always like that.....not uncommon at all!

ok...aside from the opinion that "it's always like that" in that area...the completed "ring" of earthquake epicenters over a one week span has stepped back to a not quite complete ring with the northeast quadrant clear again. Closer to what it actually is "always like".
Its appearance preceded the just seen northward step in larger quakes -
from that 6.0 off the coast of central Chile on 11/12 to the 6.1 in Northern Chile on 11/14 -
and from that 7.4 in Guatemala on 11/7 to today's 6.0 in southern Mexico.

I'm not yet saying the "ring" is a possible signal for a northward step. I'm just pointing out that it might be something to keep an eye on if the ring appears again since continued northward steps could become a big problem for the US West Coast.

I think I should add that ever since the 8.7 Sumatra quake that evidenced the crumbling of that area of the Indo-Australian Plate (giving the Pacific Plate a great deal of room to move), statements like "It's always like that", concerning quakes and movement surrounding the Pacific Plate no longer can be made. Because from that 8.7 on, the Earth has permanently left behind everything that had been "always like that".
Any deviation from what it used to always be like could easily be very important to note.

The OR, ID, NV circle of epicenters has closed off the northeast quadrant again with 2 tremors in the evening on 11/19.

Northward step just occurred on the other side of the Pacific:

5.2 47km SE of Taitung City, Taiwan 2012-11-20 17:08:59 22.410°N 121.421°E

This offshore Taiwan quake is at the same latitude as La Paz Mexico.

If a pattern is going to emerge with this, La Paz area could be due for a 4.5 to 5.5 any time within approx. 48 hrs.

Another step northward on the other side of the Pacific.

then
4.6 83km ENE of Shikotan, Russia 2012-11-20 19:22:12 44.145°N 147.649°E

The offshore Russian quake is at the same latitude as Eugene, Oregon (very close to Portland).
