If they launch a ground invasion, what are the implications for the rest of the world? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1579810
How would this equate to doom?
There is no doubt that it will come to an Israelian - Syrian - Arabic war, if not today, than tomorrow.
With Shi'ite factions like Hezbollah being a true supporter of the Syrian regime and on the other side Sunni factions being strong opponents of that regime and Israel being a mutual sworn enemy, the attacks of the past days from Lebanon and shells landing in Isreali territory, can only lead to Israel being drawn into this conflict. Isreal's enemies want them to be drawn into a real war with Syria, probably under the true belief that the Arab world will unite against Israel. Iran being a true Assad supporter, will no doubt come to Syria's aid. But I doubt whether Isreal will wait for that and attack Iran at the same time.
Also, don't forget that Turkey bordertowns have been under constant fire from this Syrian civil war. Makes you wonder how much the Turks are gonna take. They might take Isreal's attack as the trigger to get involved also.
US role? Russia? Depends on how fierce Israel's attack will be. This war / attack could be over in a heartbeat, depending on the massiveness of the attack and which weapons they choose.
I detest war. There are only victims on either side. But I also know that when asked: "Will there ever be peace in this world?" a wise man once said: "Oh yes, for sure there will be peace, but not before there has been a war that has not left one stone unturned."
Peace to all
