Re: White House deluged with petitions for secession
These petitions will be ignored. They will receive no real media attention and life will go on as the gubmint sees fit.....just my prediction.

I believe you are correct. However, at this point in time, the real reason for these petitions is to put our elected officials "On Notice" that we are fed up. This is much like the "Committees of Correspondence" and the First Continental Congress that sent letters of greivance to King George.

The Colonists knews damn well that the King would not listen to them, but they also knew that to sit back and do nothing was not the answer either.

damn straight

everything has to be done in proper order...documentation and paper trail established

meanwhile, TX 400 signatures away from 100K:

[link to petitions.whitehouse.gov (secure)]

and so it goes....

Re: White House deluged with petitions for secession
There are petitions for all 50 states now and the signers number over 650,000 now. This just proves how clueless so many people are. The people who have signed those petitions have completely ignored their own state legislators and appealed to the head of the federal government as if he were some king who might grant them their wishes.

What a bunch of ignorant idiots. A free and independent person who understood how this nation was founded and that our separate states joined as independent states (and how some seceded as independent states) would never appeal to a modern day king for permission to be free. All this does is empower the executive branch and diminish... no, ignore the role of state government entirely.

No wonder the republic is dead.

You make some good points my friend, but I believe it may be the best strategy at this time. Please allow me to explain.

The MSM is out there boasting that the country is overwhelmingly a Left nation now and the Right wing parties are dead. They also espouse that the majority of the American people have given the President their approval for Obama's mandates to carry out however he sees fit.

By using these online petitions on the White House website anyone can go online and see them for what they are.
However, when these petitions are ignored , the people of the respective states can go to their State Legislative body and request action. In this fashion, it will be more likely that the state politicians will have the balls to do something since Washington D.C. doesn't want to.

I'll grant you that this affords a national platform, but there were over 60 million people who voted for Obama. The petitions have less than 1 million right now. Maybe that could double or triple in the next few weeks. Let’s say that by the first week of December that there are 3 million (more than 3x now) people who have signed. That sounds like a huge amount of unhappy people until you compare it to the 120 million that actually voted or even the 50.5% tiniest of simple majority 60 million who specifically voted for Obama.

Again, it's making the news and at least the discussion is a very good thing. Unless the numbers just explode though it will draw nothing but ridicule from the press and will be easily laughed off by a narcissistic president that practically thinks he's god.

I would not be opposed if a state wanted to seceded. My point was that the act of individuals completely skipping the state government step empowers the federal government and diminishes the states sovereignty which is what the whole argument of secession is all about.
