If you don't hear from me after a month give me a call. Six inches in the UK is like getting six foot in the US. Year before last was six inches and I was holed up in the Forest of Dean. In the 1990's I was in Colorado and had six foot of snow. Up one morning to get on the snow blower and opened the back door and walked into a snowbank so had to dig my way out to get the shovel to make a path. Always exciting the first year but after that its just a job that needs to be done. My truck would not go until about noon as the fuel was frozen. An old bloke told me to light a fire under the truck to warm it up, sure mate. |

Not individuals, but our rich elite leaders , ran out of grit last big freeze . So they gritted just the main supply routes (which makes sense ) but the local councils who you pay to grit the pavements and side roads never showed there faces where I live in Lancashire . Some of us with 4x4's did for the old folks local to us .This country elites couldn't run a bath let alone the country . Too busy poking it's big fat nose into other countries businesses. You have to look after yourself , get some grit in . buy a snow shovel, they're cheap enough. Food and some fuel for your car, carry snow chains and a sleeping bag in your car . Don't be a victim because you waited for someone to help you . Help your old folk, they would help you if they could . Carry a towrope and some jump leads, torch .spare batteries for the torch . Flask of hot something you like, you are responsible for yourself , wear a hat 70% of your body heat goes through the top of your head . Be safe folks , my family and I will be . If it comes to heating or eating do both if you can, if you cant eat and cover up , you will get colder more quickly if you have no food inside you .Make sure you have some form of communication , land line , mobile phone , etc . Be ready ,they didn't put energy prices up for nothing ![]() |

A cold blast of Arctic air is due to blow in around the end of next month, according to Jonathan Powell, of Vantage Weather Services...... well, if it is going to get as cold as they say soon...i hope some of the rain we have had today (near Taunton, somerset)has a chance to drain away first....
