This is just the continuation of something which began in 2009, fwiw. Anyone surprised by this hasn't been paying attention



The Texas Nationalist movement delivered 1 million signatures to the governor's office in 2009, demanding secession:

Texans will converge on Austin to deliver a petition to Restore America by Demanding our Sovereignty or we will be forced to call a vote for Secession.

This is straight out of the Declaration of Independence and our right to “alter or abolish” our government if it has, “after a long train of abuses” refused to protect the rights of the people.

At present, the Texas Nationalist Movement has a petition with 1 Million signatures directly calling for a vote of secession.

It's not like all 33k are even in Texas. Anyone from any state can sign it, and a lot of people doing so are clearly from other states.

Word is just getting out. Wait for it.

The original poster has obviously never been to Texas. It has so many unique geographical areas it is like being in another country.

I think in only got started on the 7th... so in 5 days it garnered this many votes.. just wow... and it's not on the news anywhere YET, only on in the internet and word of mouth!!!

I guess when people think of Texas, they have a desert mentallity. They forget we have mountains, and hills, lots of wildlife, lakes, ocean beeches, snow, torndos, hail, sleet, we get it all down in the the GREAT STATE OF TEXAS, right?

I'd sign the petition. Don't let the door hit your racist ass on the way out Texas.

I personally would not want a constitutional convention right now. It opens the possibility for any changes to be made to it. The people in charge, both sides, could do more damage than good. I believe this procedure has never been used since our founding, only the states radificaton of amendments. States should just secede, if they wish. But most are dependent on federal money so they won't go through with it. Texas or Montana would probably be the 2 that would have the best chance. If they held to our original principles and original constitution, minus the obvious issues we had in the beginning, I would be interested in moving.

Ain't nothin like Christmas in Texas, all the friendly people ( and yes to all you others out there, REAL Texans are friendly people) all the northerners that have moved here are the unfriendlier ones until they've lived here a while and have no choice but to try to at least be nice.
