When you choose to stand up for truth it will make most people uneasy, because it contradicts their own wisdom and mindset, and most people do not like it when this happens. Truth will rock the boat, it will force changes, it will purge everything that is not rooted in [and founded on] truth, but it is always for good. Regardless of the opposition and short term setback that truth may suffer, and whether or not it can find someone who is willing to stand up for it, truth will ultimately win. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 24537507 United States 11/12/2012 10:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | General Dynamics used to have facilities in Texas. I think they built F-16's there in Fort Worth. Texas Instruments is there. NASA Mission Control is there. Plenty of other high-tech and defense oriented stuff is in Texas. Ingenious Texans would find a way to apply this if needed in a border war. Mexico wouldn't have a shadow of a chance. Vought,Bell helicopter, aerospecial, ratheon and a buttlaod of others too. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 27304459 United States 11/12/2012 10:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Truth is if the u.s federal government had a brain , they would see it as a plus. Texas could break away with LA . Give the states a year of military protection.Allow the states to build their own military's and control their own borders. It would allow the states to be removed from federal requirements on oil drilling, refinery production, etc.It would bring down the price of fuel in the u.s with trade. Because the states arent going to join any opec, or U.N bullshit. Quoting: TSWB21 But then again the federal government is trying to destroy the u.s not fix it. They are pulling for the one world government. Interesting post. Let the non-border USA maintain its "open borders" philosophy and let the border states crack down and do what's needed along the border. In return, Texas gets free of the federal mandates. The problem is, Texas is supposed to help pay the national debt. If they slip out of the union, they escape that. Remember that the purpose of the Constitution was to form a "more perfect union" making all states responsible for the national debt; before that the creditors couldn't really find anyone willing to pay under the Articles of Confederation. That is a big problem. Let the u.s default on their currency and debt.If Washington cant pay it. Maybe they can just get the queen of England to loan them the money. The federal reserve is their baby anyway. hehehehe If the US just defaulted, so many problems would be solved that our politics would be entirely different, and nobody would put up with the kind of shit Obama (and W, and even Clinton) are/were doing. Even Obama wouldn't act that way, probably! The current issues would largely go away. This whole thing, the difficult choices, the insane political pressures and fracturing, are intimately tied to that unpayable ballooning debt. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27568470 What if Mexico, who has resented having lost Texas for a long time if I am not mistaken, attacks Texas in a sudden war of conquest in an attempt to get it back for good ? Will the US (of the 49 statesq) step in ? More likely I suppose, as that other poster said, they might join forces as they have many common interests. Economic I suppose and maybe military ? |

It's just that he's an idiot, has anger issues, and lets emotions rule what passes for reason within his limited understanding of the complexities of life. His knee-jerk use of ill-chosen and overly-common obscenities belies a basic lack of eloquence and education. He is a self-wielded tool, and not the sharpest in the drawer. And he is no fun at parties. In other words; even if he has been given the finest education known to man, and has a string of doctoral accolades trailing his name and entitling his reputation, "it don't mean 'nuthin' 'cause it obviously din't take!" Or at least that's my read on the situation. Your mileage may vary. |

Six other states declared secession between then and Lincoln's inauguration on 4 March 1861. When the Civil War began at Fort Sumter on 12 April 1861 four additional states opted to secede. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25450407 I will point out though with current Demographic trends Hispanics WILL outnumber Whites in Texas by 2020, and when combined with Blacks (about 12% of the population), the current minorities in that State will greatly outnumber Whites by then. And then, don't forget about Mecha. Are they still very active ? This is a movement which, in a nation with this kind of a population, might be a strong influence for "bonding" with the mother country (by which I mean Mexico). All kinds of things could happen. |
