Are you really in Fiji? Tradtional Fijians can't stand the Indian population there.

Fijian Indians have taken over Fiji and have turned it in to a shi thouse of a place.

I guess you are not from this region, and so Fiji must be magical for you......Fiji to us here in Australia is what the Carribean islands are to Americans.

Yes, traditonal Fijians are a very happy bunch and go out of their way to make you feel special. to say zero racism, you are living in a fantasy world.

A relative of mine went to Fiji for his honeymoon, 15 days, he came back a NEW guy. Went a financial/banker idiot, came back talking about going to live forever in a remote island.

Watch out for the ride to the airport-scam if you hire your own driver. They will tell you $15, then when you get to the airport "I say $50 not $15".

Genetically they are just strong - I rhink when they get older they stack on the weight - apparently diabetes is a major death factor there. There is sugar cane EVERYWHERE! wonder uf they eat too much of that combined with the very fatty coconut milk too.

But they are just strong units physically and show the love openly!

OK well, I actually assumed the same, however I have asked a few locals, and it honestly doesn't bother them. I Think the two cultures can compliment - but yes there are many Indians here.

Coups aint necessarily a bad thing - I think maybe a coup here abd there levels the playing field. The USA is one place I'd like to see a coup though!

Well I did my research, and picked a taxi and said upfront what I can pay- we agreed, and I bought him a coke ( which he really appreaciated). He then opened up and told me many things wad like a tour guide! And he told me of potential rip offs! He then told me he has land for sale if I was interested, which I kindly refused.

Don't go on one of those 'jet boat rides down the river to visit a traditional Fijian village' tours. I went on one last year and it was my idea of hell on earth. Torrential rain, up to my knees in mud and shit. It was hell.

Watch out for the Indians over there, just a bunch of pick pocketing thieves, no desire ever to go back there after my experience with the Indians ..Kava is good ...Hic.

It's a nice idea, but let's just say reality didn't match up to expectations. The people I met were awesome.

Thailand and Fiji are scams..they will put on a show for you and you will accept it.

I have lived in several countries...both hemispheres..the first experience is always nice but after a few you years you start to understand that nothing is as it seems, there are huge problems, unfix-able problems in all countries..developed and developing

Samoans, Fijians, Togans coming to NZ/Australia think they are in heaven for the first few months when they immigrate..but after a while they end up in poverty, gangs, and domestic violence situations

I always enjoyed my vacations in Fiji, been about 6 times since 1984, was last there in Jan.-Feb. of this year for about a month.

If so,try to head out to one of the cheaper resorts like Bounty Island in the Mamanucas if you can.

Or else take a day trip by bus down around the Coral Coast area if possible. Natadola beach is pretty nice.

Don't forget to try out the Dahl soup while you're in Nadi, I still get cravings for that stuff.

Hey OP, have some kava for me! I was in FIJI a couple of years ago and its awesome! Don't know where you are, but charter a boat and snorkel the Yasawa Islands if you can--amazing! And get to Monuriki Island where Tom Hanks filmed "Castaway."

I've never seen so many smiley faces - go for a walk where you live in the western world - check out how disconnected we are as a culture, it's a stark contrast of community. Everyone looks lost, busy, unhappy, rushed - its just not right guys.

I challenge you all to go out of your way to smile to everyone you pass on that walk, get the eye contact, just to let them know there is real happyness in these here endish times we seem to be in ....

....or is that just it, are we pretending things are more dire than the real reality of it all?!
