Re: Went to Target to get a birthday card today...
Christianity has become, quite literally repulsive (it repels sane thinking people). The hypocrisy, the evil, the haughty conceit, the fact that the vast majority of so called "christians" don't even make an effort to live according to the precepts laid down in the Gospels by Jesus Christ... It's just become a total sham.

However the holiday season that we call "Christmas" has become much larger than the religious aspect that is attached to it (which in reality it JC's birthday was not on Christmas, it was adjusted to coincide with winter traditions).

We could call it something else if it would shut you hypocrites up..... Festivus was as good as anything else. Maybe that's what I'll call it from now on.... Because as far as I'm concerned the religion that goes along with Christmas is dead.

Why should there be? All who follow Yahweh's Appointed Feast Days know that YahuShua/Jesus was born during the Feast of Tabernacles in the fall.

When you celebrate his birth in December, you are giving glory to the father of this world even if you are unaware of it. Come out of the world, My People! We must live IN the world but we are commanded not to be OF the world.

Look into the origins of Saturnalia/Christmas. What you find may surprise you!

Not really. It has pagan roots and was co-opted by Christains. Same thing with Easter.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11963746

That's a bunch of baloney. The Saturnalia was only
a festival. It had no real religious significance.
Also, Easter is only "Easter" in the Old English,
it is Pascha or the Pasch everywhere else.
There are no "pagan roots" to anything in Christianity.
That penchant of modernism has totally been debunked
by all responsible, true scholars and is garbage to corrupt
the malleable minds of the ignorant. Good Day.

Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
Jude 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
Jude 1:25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

there are others that have been saved by the skin of their teeth, the one robber on the cross next to Jesus comes to mind.

Lu 23:38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Lu 23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
Lu 23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
Lu 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
Lu 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Lu 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

One day, I'll keep you in prayers when I remember.

Re: Went to Target to get a birthday card today...
Not true. Target has tons of packages of Christmas cards with the nativity, crosses, Jesus, the star of Bethlehem, etc. They usually have the bulk of their Christmas cards in the special holiday section of the store, not with the rest of the greeting cards.
Sorry to burst your indignant bubble, but perhaps you looked in the wrong section...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5240732

I believe There has been a boycot of target going on for quite awhile, along with home depot, j c penneys, macys, walgreens, and some more stores i can't remember all of them now now by some Christians.

Read up on gay agenda of stores.

Check out million moms and the AFA (American Family Association.)

There are many stores with an anti- Christian, anti- Christmas agenda. When you go into a store for something for Christmas and all you see is HOLIDAY trees, wreathes, lights, etc, demand to see the manager. Tell them to show you where in their store you can find tbe word CHRISTMAS.

Tell them as a Christian you will never set foot in their store again. Do it.n

Notice also how halloween products get more numerous and elaborate every year ?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24576966

Christians boycotted jc penney until its stock was reduced to JUNK STATUS. an
Research these stores at AFA and MILLION MOMS. When Christians move enmasse things happen.

Good one!

There's been a few time's I've said to waitresses and other people "Happy Holidays" and got berated "IT'S CHRISTMAS!, NOT ANYTHING ELSE!" How the hell was I supposed to know if they celebrated christmas, hanukkah, the solstice etc. And it IS a "holidays" (plural) because of New Years. I was just being nice. touchy touchy. Lighten up.

And since I lean toward the earth religions and celebrate solstice, how come they don't have any Happy Winter Solstice cards anywhere? There is Freedom of religion in this "free" country, isn't there? Should I be pissed nobody respects or recognizes MY religious beliefs?

While in Europe it's called Basque, Easter is based on Esther, the goddess of fertility, who's symbols were the rabbit, for obvious reasons and the egg (re: the hormone estrogen). Christs chronological birthday is calculated to be in June or September. It got changed to convert Pagans to Christianity easier, since in Europe they celebrated the shortest day and longest night of the year as a start of longer days and more sun and the end of long hard winter (and to break up the harsh winter with a day of celebration for the children). Then comes Easter, the spring equinox, the time in spring to start planting crops and celebrate their fertility and growth.

SINCE we all believe in freedom, and freedom of religion to worship the God of our choice, I WANT MY RELIGION to be recognized by big national chain stores selling thousands of chinese plastic what-nots. Wah Wah Wah...

Oh, I believe Jesus WAS a prophet. So was Buddha, Black Elk, and many others. Prove me wrong.

THIS. I've been saying "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays" all in the same sentence since 1980 something when I was a little kid. It WAS part of tradition in my mid-west family to say Happy Holidays in the greeting because we were covering New Year. I think some of you are recent Americans or something...

Christianity is worship of the devil anyway. The entire story of jesus' birth is false. No one knows his birth date and are inadvertently worshipping Nimrod, the god of Christmas. He was the king of Babylon. That's why there's a tree involved, because after he died it was a Pagan ritual to burn a yule log, then a tree would appear representing birth and rejuvenation...

You're following a Pagan ritual that even his disciples wouldn't celebrate. How does that make you feel.

I own a business and each year we send out a notice that we will be closed the week of Christmas in order for our employees to spend time with their families. Each year we end it with " May God bless you in the up coming year and have Merry CHRISTmas". It never fails that I have to field at least 1 call from a customer who is upset or going to cancel service because they don't appreciate us cramming "Jesus" down their throat!

It's at this precise moment that being a business owner is priceless:) I tell them that I am not a man of religion, but a man of faith and that everything I have including my business is thru the grace of God and God only and I'm sorry if they are offended. If that doesn't work and their still unhappy..... I will refer them to another company.

Well no not really. If Jesus existed, he wasn't born on December 25th, that's for certain.

December 25th was just the pagan celebration of the winter solstice. We moved Jesus' birthday to that date in order to compete with the Pagan ceremonies.

Moving his birthday from it's real date (which could've been in March, could've been in September/October) was just a move to convert more Pagans to Christianity because the Pagans already celebrated the winter solstice on December 25th.

Google it.

It's true.

So stop bitching that the store doesn't have pictures of your religious icons on it around a supposed religious date. December 25th has absolutely nothing to do with religion or Jesus Christ. You have absolutely nothing to bitch about.

Figurines of President Barack Obama are being put in nativity scenes in shops in Naples, Italy for the Christmas season.

I can see why this is happening. Old people, young people wanting Obama to help them with higher education, disabled people, single mothers, people with disabilities, people on food stamps, anyone who has entitlements are hoping that Obama will save them, Obama will give them salvation. Obama seems to be the new Jesus. People might disagree but I can see it happening. Because of high employment, a broke economy, jobs shipped overseas that are never coming back, high levels of legal and illegal immigrants taking jobs, people have become too desperate. It will only get worse

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25260732

AC is correct...as Christians we should NOT be celebrating on Dec. 25.

It is the PAGAN ritual to celebrate the Winter Solstice.

It's the WORSHIP of the SUN GOD. It's Just Aten/Ra/Horus worship repackaged by ROME.

We CERTAINLY shouldn't be putting up christmas trees.

It was ROME that repackaged the Pagan Babylonian/Egyptian Sun Worship and SOLD it as Christianity.

Dec. 25th has NOTHING to do with Jesus.

In the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 12, verse 2, it states, "Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:"

In this verse it talks about serving false gods under mountains, hills, and in particular, a green tree. If this is not enough evidence that the Christmas tree is not Christian, let us go into detail.

In the book of Jeremiah, chapter 10, verses 1-6. it says, "Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the ways of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of Heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them, for the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the work man, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the Palm tree, but speak not; they must needs be borne because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might."

THIS is why so many people are disillusioned with Christianity. It's become some perverse thing polluted by the VATICAN with all of their PAGAN rituals.

As for 'Santa'...cough cough SATAN...don't even get me started. Anyone that tells there kids a magical flying fatman is delivering there kids presents totally DESTROYS Jesus's command of DOING CHARITY from the heart. Not to mention it is practicing the ways of the HEATHEN and their witchcraft.

This entire world is SICK. I'd say 1% of so-called Christians actually read their bible and realize how perverted things are.

Re: Went to Target to get a birthday card today...
I'm not even religious but this politically correct "seasons greetings" shit is really pissing me off

It's a god damned Christian holiday...

It should be honored as such
 Quoting: ^TrInItY^

There's something that sounds so sacrilegious in saying "a god damned Christian holiday", lol!

But I hear ya, Trin. It's boring. I'm a musician and I just bristle when groups insist on changing words to old music because it is "no longer politically correct". I do the programs and posters for our community band and as long as I am secretary and graphic artist, I WILL print Merry CHRISTMAS, god dammit!

Crazy. You Christians are just as bad as radical muslims. Really. A 2000 year old text that stiffles critical thinking and rational thought. A text that tells me to punish my wife is she is raped. A text that says its ok to sell my wife for two goats and a sheep. A archaic book that says some imaginary all knowing being Loves Me but If I do do his bidding I`ll burn eternally in hell.

Thats crazy and you are insane if you believe fucking fairy tells as an adult.

One passage tells it all. The Bible was made to control and brainwash populations.

Romans 13

Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God. 2 So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. 3 For the authorities do not frighten people who are doing right, but they frighten those who do wrong. So do what they say, and you will get along well. 4 The authorities are sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for you will be punished. The authorities are established by God for that very purpose, to punish those who do wrong. 5 So you must obey the government for two reasons: to keep from being punished and to keep a clear conscience. 6 Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid so they can keep on doing the work God intended them to do. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and import duties, and give respect and honor to all to whom it is due. 8 Pay all your debts, except the debt of love for others. You can never finish paying that! If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill all the requirements of God's law. 9 For the commandments against adultery and murder and stealing and coveting -- and any other commandment -- are all summed up in this one commandment: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no wrong to anyone, so love satisfies all of God's requirements. 11 Another reason for right living is that you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for the coming of our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So don't live in darkness. Get rid of your evil deeds. Shed them like dirty clothes. Clothe yourselves with the armor of right living, as those who live in the light. 13 We should be decent and true in everything we do, so that everyone can approve of our behavior. Don't participate in wild parties and getting drunk, or in adultery and immoral living, or in fighting and jealousy. 14 But let the Lord Jesus Christ take control of you, and don't think of ways to indulge your evil desires.
