I'm not even religious but this politically correct "seasons greetings" shit is really pissing me off

It's a god damned Christian holiday...

It should be honored as such

That's cool, my local Best Buy wants to celebrate Muslim holidays instead of Christmas.

You fuckers praise capitalism to the degree that you want to profit from a religion? Then lets spread out that demographic and call it 'the holidays'. You know what we call it "christmas" at work? Peak. That's pure capitalism which you claim to live by.

All the while you despise any hint of socialism.

Re: Went to Target to get a birthday card today...
...

Christmas isn't a Christian holiday. It is a pagan holiday in honor of the demon god Mithras. And there never was a Nativity scene. There were no wise men at the manger. Only shepherds. The astrologers didn't show up until Jesus was a young child living in a house. The story is so full of lies. Jesus didn't even celebrate his birthday. No Jews did that as it was a pagan custom.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1550123

The pagans had a holyday for Mthras. Christians have a Holy Day called Christmas. The fall at about the same time of year.

The Pagans didn't have a Christmas Holy day, they had their own.

It's really not a hard concept to grasp.

Just like two different people can have a birthday on the same day. John's birthday doesn't cancel out Mary's birthday.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 990186

Yeah, but Christians specificly chose that day so Pagans could convert to thier religion more easily, Thats the issue other religions have.

I don't give a fuck about Jesus or christmas, My kids love the concept of Santa not Jesus.
 Quoting: Doommincus Maximus

What? You don't want your kids to celebrate the birth of a man that lived over 2000 years ago, who's image was molded by bored desert dwellers and remolded hundreds of years later by men rewriting a book to form a new world-wide feel-good cult that massacred millions of people? But.. but.. he died for you and I mean it's not as if plenty of people don't die for you daily while they're off fighting a group of corporations bullshit war.

Btw.. if you don't believe in him you will burn in an eternal lake of fire. He loves you. Celebrate the man-gods birthday. He was born in a stable, do you know how shitty stables are?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1535628

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35-39).

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:4-5).

Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God (Ephesians 5:2).

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4-5).

For the maybe one actual Christian on this huge site in a Christian nation. Statistically this site SHOULD be crawling with Christians, but it is crawling with satanists trying to shove their agenda and hate in the face of the Christian MAJORITY in this nation.

I've personally never in my life run into a larger collection of absolute jesus wackos than on this site.

Then again, this site also has a lot of wackos of other types as well. Which I suppose is what makes it interesting. If the crazies on this site can learn to get along somehow, then I bet we'll have that middle east crisis worked out by the next weekend.

That is a load of horse shit Metro. The holiday was around long before big box stores. Regardless of the reason the 25th was chosen it still means something to a lot of people. I am not a Christian but I dare not infringe upon the right they have to celebrate it. Sure there is a large consumer component these days but doesn't? Everything especially in the USA has been monetized to some degree. Unfortunately this is the world we live in. You could always use the same argument about Birthdays or Thanksgiving but these don't have a religious component which is the real issue for the people and groups who try to diminish it. You fuckers always hide your true motives when it suits you. Instead of saying I am a liberal atheist and I hate your religion, you use the "its evil capitalism Mannnnnn"!! BS argument. Point is its tradition and culture. I never spend thousands of dollars on Christmas what we (my family) focus on is the fact it puts us all in one home and we eat, drink, and laugh. That's the important part its also part of the Christian values that are associated with it(besides Jesus). Obviously by removing Christian Symbols from the holiday its to remove the religion as well. No matter how you try and spin that shit.
 Quoting: Red Harvest

I was not saying it has always been monetized. I am saying it is these days, especially since they have taken out the "religion" aspect. My point was that it was not even a Christian holiday to begin with. Everything is a Pagan rituals. Yeah people celebrate it religiously, but its false. Jesus was not born in December. And you are right about thanksgiving. All holidays are for money now.

Christians try to be thankful to God for every breath they take. Thanksgiving is special , it is like GRATEFULNESS ON STEROIDS. A day to reflect on everything God has done and to show that you ate grateful.

Here's a great Thanksgiving song to sing with your family on Thanksgiving. hf

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 990186

You should put "Christians" in quotes for that sentence.

If you're talking about full on church-going, follow the bible on all 7 days of the week, and believe every word in it as a Christian is supposed to, then no way are they in the majority.

But you could ask a million people individually "Are you a Christian" and the HUGE majority would say yes, even though they are not practising, don't "really" believe in it, it's just that they were brought up in a Christian-ish household. But they still answer "yes" to this question.

Then there are all the ones who just pick and choose what they want from the bible yet still call themselves Christian, even though they have technically started a new religion. It's these ones that are in the majority today.
