Out of all the states that are on that growing list, Texas is the only one with a real fair shake of successfully surviving on its own.

The majority of other southern states are so poor, that they would quickly parish without the billions of dollars the Fed sends their way. This is not the case for Texas, which is one of the few states that pays more in IRS than it gets back in 'gifts' from the Federal Government.

If Texas really wants to leave I hope all the best for her.

Not only is she financially able, her power grid is independent, amongst other things.

I am surprised that the Liberals in this country are not encouraging this. They should be thrilled at the idea of Texas seceded from the nation. Texas has been a thorn in their side for decades.

They'd band together much like the Confederate States of America. I am also certain Texas would also welcome the help of the southern states in terms of defense during the coming Civil War (If succession took place).

The question is moot, as I am certain Texas would lock down their borders. A large increase in population would be a huge burden on the newly launcHed Republic. You won't just Waltz in.

Texas is the only state that could secede, since it is the only state that did not take any TARP money back in 2008. The other 49 states are owned by the banks.

This was the talk back in 2008 started mainly by Rick Perry. But calmed down after the Obama Admi. started handing out checks to the states with budget defecits.

I think it's al just frustration expressed online. Really don't think there is any posibility it could ever happen but since I'm already here I guess I'd just wait to support Roger Staubach as our POTROT.
