The Baboon Liberation Army strongly rejects this movement. Free your inner baboon and let the capuchins run free through your pecan trees and your piney woods.

As this dude points out, monkeys are hardcore savages and will rip your face right off on no real provocation, for reasons you can't discern and that wouldn't probably make sense if you could.

Re: Legalize private possession of monkeys/apes.
The ban of owning some of the smaller primates is reactionary and does little for the continuity or understanding of the species. Instead of banning the use of them for research, they banned the very people that loved them and want to provide a home and learn about them.

If anyone has seen how some of these babies are treated by their own kind should see how much better the human is to the care and longevity of their lives. Granted, all people have limitations such as found with people adopting dogs, horses or any other animal as a pet. One cannot dispute the findings that primates have at least 10 years added to their life span when adopted by a competent individual.

Instead of adopting from a USDA approved breeder, they will now be imported/smuggled from other countries along with the diseases associated with the primates in that country. You cannot stop the desire for a primate pet but the poaching can be hindered by the legalization of monitored adoptions.

FYI, there are no reported cases of rabies generated from monkeys in the USA.

FYI, trained animal advocates make great monkey mothers and provide a host of medical, psychological and emotional support to a primate.

FYI, primates wearing diapers (which are changed twice daily) are not able to "fling feces" and are able to be socialized if purchased at the youngest age possible.

With all the hoopla that is being circulated about the horrors of raising a baby monkey, the laboratories will get to pay less for the monkey because there is no real competition and the breeder still sells them at top dollar. Poachers will now get top dollar as well.

I am loaded with information about these close cousins of man but then, it is just easier to believe what is being circulated, right?

I am in Connecticut where the Chimpanzee attacked Karla Nash but if anyone starts a petition to reinstate the private ownership of monkeys under 50 pounds with certification requirements, let me know because I would sign it in a heartbeat.

This is another rumor, to date there are no reports of pet monkeys transferring AIDS or any other sexually transmitted diseases. With proper screening and trained breeders, these precious animals will never be used for such perversion.
