Iranian Red Crescent Workers Held by CIA? I'm sorry - but that is one of the dumbest Libyan conspiracy theories I've read in a long time....

Local Libyan thuwar have been attacking ICRC facilities since February, 2012. The Benghazi HQ of ICRC was bombed; the Misrata facility bombed & extensively damaged..

The Libyan media literally had to remind people that the International Red Cross was the parent organization of the Red Crescent and was not trying to convert Libyans to Christianity....

Against this backdrop Shia Iranian Red Crescent workers were arrested by an Islamist katiba for either spying or trying to converts Libyans to Shiaism. Multiple Libyan gov't officials visited them in the militia's jail. There are pictures of Libyan officials going to the jail to visit these guys....

Most of the press reports are in Arabic...But you can find some English reports on Google...

A crazy (but similar) Libyan arrest that got more English-language coverage was the Welsh speaking reporters arrested in Misrata. Local Libyans thought they were Zionist spies speaking Hebrew. One of them worked for Iranian TV (which was highly suspicious to Libyans)...

1st - But on August 1, a (Libyan Gov't) security official told AFP that the Iranian group was being questioned by a local militia to determine whether its true mission was proselytising. "Members of the brigade holding the Iranians are questioning them to determine whether their activities and intentions aimed to spread the doctrine of Shiite Islam," the security official said.

2nd - A Libyan foreign ministry spokesman announced Tuesday that all the seven Iranian Red Crescent workers who were kidnapped in the Eastern city of Benghazi on August 1 are alive and healthy...

Petraeus’s attentions by Paula Broadwell, the woman who had an extramarital affair with Mr. Petraeus.

The U.S. official said the FBI uncovered between 20,000 and 30,000 pages of communications - mostly emails and spanning from 2010 to 2012 - between Allen and Jill Kelley, who has been identified as a long-time friend of the Petraeus family and a Tampa, Florida, volunteer social liaison with military families at MacDill Air Force Base.

Petraeus could surely shed light on the matter. But — because of an affair the FBI knew about for months, yet we supposedly didn’t mention to the White House until the night of the election — he’s out. According to a November 12th Fox News item, “White House Counterterrorism Advisor John Brennan reportedly was aware that there was a relationship as early as the summer of 2011.” That is at odds with the timeline now being fed to press outlets like the Washington Post, New York Times and Wall Street Journal that were incalculably helpful to the President’s reelection bid by keeping a lid on the Benghazigate story until after the election. These news organizations are reporting that the FBI told only the Attorney General and a small number of his subordinates “last summer.” The party line claims that was because guidelines promulgated during the previous administration would preclude the Bureau or Justice Department from giving a heads-up to the White House or congressional intelligence committees.
